Submitting Windows XP Icons
Xicons.com owes it's raging popularity to the diversity, quality, and frequency of icons we post. This website would not be possible without a constant stream of exciting designs submitted by members of the Macintosh and Windows communities. If you think you're talented enough to be showcased on Xicons.com, read below for information on submitting your sets.
Submission Guidelines:
For the best chance of getting your icon sets posted on our website, please follow these guidelines carefully:
* Icon sets should follow a theme. We rarely post sets of random icons.
* Please do not repeat previously posted icons or icons sets unless they are significantly improved or different in design or for a different operating system as the original set.
* Do not submit any icons which infringe on the copyrights of others. Offending sets will be removed at the request of the copyright holder.
* Pay attention to detail. Icons with poor masking and jagged edges rarely get posted.
* Make sure to include the 16x16, 32x32, 48x48, and 128x128 resources for each icon.
* Icons made by simply converting clipart or other pre-made graphics are less likely to be posted than original designs and compositions. Be creative!
* Name each icon carefully and check them for spelling errors.
* Please do not send us any icons that our viewers may find offensive.
* Keep your icon sets to less than 1 MB. Larger sets must be broken into multiple volumes.
* Please include a 200x100 pixel jpeg preview graphic of your icon set. [required]
Emailing Your Set:
All icons in a given set should be compiled into a single zip archive (".zip"). Please include a Read Me file with your name, email address, web address, and any comments, instructions, or copyright information in a format suitable for the end user. Text files are preferred. If you chose to make a graphical Read Me file, please keep the file size under 100KB or it will not be included due to bandwidth considerations. Other files like desktop wallpaper and software may not be included.
Send us an email at macosxicons@mac.com with your archive attached and the name of your icon set in the subject line. In the body of the message, you are required to include an alphabetically-sorted, comma-separated list of the names of the icons in your set. Please capitalize the first letter of each icon name in this listing and omit the file extension (.ico). Please do not use abbreviations. The listing should be verbose and descriptive to make archive searches as meaningful as possible.
What To Expect:
Please understand that icon sets are not necessarily posted in the order in which they are received. All sets are kept on file and may be posted at any time. So don't be discouraged if your icons do not appear on the site immediately.
Due to the volume of submissions we receive, we cannot respond to or even post every submission. Please do not submit the same set more than once, unless it has been significantly updated. If you are concerned that we may not have received your icons, just ask and we'll do our best to get back to you.
