Weird Taskbar behaviour

HI, have the latest beta v1.45 and v1.44, I also have the taskbar at the top of the screen. when i move my mouse over an app icon in the taskbar a vertical line with arrow heads top and bottom of the line appears an I cannot click on any of the items in my taskbar, very frustrating.

If i delete start 11 its ok so seems to be a problem with start 11 itself.

anyone else had this problem? any fixes for it?

thanks

Tony

It would be useful to know the exact build number as we have found some people using insider releases when they didn't realise they were having opted out in the past.

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem as tonymax99 that appeared recently. Here are more details about that weird behavior and also version info:

Version:

  • Windows 11 Pro 22H2 build 22621.1702
  • Start11 Version 1.45

Behavior:

  • Initially, after Start11 has loaded, the taskbar and the cursor works as expected.
  • As soon as I start an Explorer window then the middle part of the taskbar on the main display is no more usable: as soon as you reach the border of that taskbar, the shape of the cursor freeze to "vertical resize" and clicking on the taskbar itself does not work anymore.
  • Note that the left side (Start Menu) and the right side (Tray Icons) of the taskbar are still behaving normally.
  • Also, the taskbar on my secondary and third display are working fine.
  • One way to temporarily fix the issue is to restart the explorer process: this resets the desktop and make the main taskbar works again.
  • But as soon as I re-open an explorer windows the problem comes back.
I hope this helps you track down the bug!

Are you both using Groupy 2 beta and also possibly also have Windows set to open explorer folders in their own process?

The next Groupy beta will address this and disabling that Windows feature should stop this temporarily.

Yes indeed:

  • I use Groupy Version 2 Beta 1
  • Disabling the option "Launch folder windows in a separate process"  did fix the Start11 main taskbar issue for me!

I would prefer to have that explorer option enabled but it is not a big deal.

Thanks you Neil for your quick fix!

same here, groupy 2 beta1

have Windows set to open explorer folders in their own process was on, id like to keep it too, disabling this has not stopped the problem though.!
