Start11 system tray missing icons

I've been experiencing an issue through a few versions now where my system tray will sometimes be missing icons.  Just a minute ago my system tray was only showing one icon next to the clock and approximately 5-8 icons in the expanded tray when opened.  Obviously, an app icon I was looking for was not there.

I went into start11 config and to the taskbar section and toggled off "let start11 enhance the taskbar".  That restarted explorer and then the icons were there in the default windows 11 taskbar.  I toggled that back on, which restarted explorer again, and now I have my expected 4 icons in the always visible area and 11 icons in the expanded area.

Next time it happens I will just try restarting explorer, but I've noticed this happen at list 5 times over the past 3-4 months.

I have no solution, but I've had the same issue since 1.4x. Sometimes the other icons will appear after several minutes, but usually, if they aren't visible right after reboot/restart, they never appear. This happens most often after I have a game (video driver) crash, but even that's not consistent. Sometimes I see the issue when booting up the PC and logging in. I've found that turning off the PC (rather than just restarting it) helps in my case.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Both of you, are on Windows 11? If yes, I believe it might be due to how Windows 11 handle taskbar tray icons in its recent version. But, to be sure, I have forwarded your problem/question to Stardock Support Team for their assistance. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We appreciate your feedback and patience.

I'm on Windows 10 22H2 v19045.2965 using Start11 v1.44 and have the same problem. I have had to move everything but the volume icon to the expanded systray menu. Any more than one icon and they vanish. I can drag one over, the volume icon I had there goes bye bye, move the one I moved down back tot he hidden section and the volume icon that went away returns. This has been happening since v1.43.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. There is a newer version Start11 V1.45 beta released very recently. Please try it: https://forums.stardock.com/518875/. It is best to uninstall Start11 first, reboot immediately after, install Start11 V1.45, reboot again. Retest it and report back.

That link above sends me to a page suggesting I check the products page. Start11 is not listed there so I look to the My Orders page and the download there is v1.44. I have since then raised a support request and have yet to hear back from them. Ya'll need a section specifically for beta downloads so we don't have to go through so many hoops and sit around waiting so long for a reply.. Please do consider it.

Namaste..

Actually, I believe the "beta download" should appear next to your download button in your product account. Something like screenshot below.

Unless the whole "paid" product is currently register under different account. If so you should raise support ticket using the link below, use the product not receive option. Include all information details. Remember to record down the ticket number for future reference if needed. Do not raise multiple ticket, that will make your ticket back to the end of the line. Send once and wait. Ticket will be answer by the order they send in.

Thank you very much. Life has kept me busy lately. The beta 1.4.5.2-j310 fixed the problem with the vanishing systray icons..

FYI folks. If it doesn't show in your downloads then you have yet to activate your product with the actual key..

I simply updated my key in Start11 and it showed in my Stardock downloads section with the beta link.

Have a very Blessed Day...

(OP here) This issue is still not fixed.  I have at least 3 running applications that have no icon in the system tray between razer synapse, discord, and slack.  Restarting explorer via task manager brought all of the icons back.

I am on start11 v1.4.7.2-j319 using current Windows 10 and the volume icon is still sometimes there, mostly not there in the systray on my main monitor. So, I confirm there is still an issue. My Laptop is fine with jsut one monitor, but the tower with two monitors continues to have the problem. I can use the volume icon on monitor two, but it is a nuisance.

Need more information on your system please.

  1. Windows 11 full version number. Use Winver.exe
  2. Start11 version number.
  3. Details how it happen. The missing icons don't show up at all? Appear for few moment and gone? etc.

I am the OP.  All the details you asked are already in this thread.  Since the thread is old, obviously my versions are now newer.  Now on Win 11 22h2 22621.2283 and Start 11 v1.47.

That is why I am asking for it, since its an old thread, things most probably have changed since then. I need that information so that I can try to reproduce your issue on my system. I am on Start11 v1.47 and Windows 11 22H2 22621.2283. And as you can see in screenshot  below, those 2 icons still show up after reboot.

Next, I would like to know if your issue on specific application or any applications?

Thank you,

You are confusing my issue that I posted in the first thread with a more specific issue of another poster.  For me, it's all different icons.  Usually about half of the icons are there.  I restart explorer and then they all come back.
