Start11 Icons Vanish

Have seen quite a few posts about this but no real answer to this issue in them posts. Wondering if anyone else has had this issue and found a fix?  I have had this issue through multiple updates of Windows 11 and Start11. It never goes away.  Calculator, Spotify, Notepad for example their icons just vanish. Only way to get them back is to close the programs or to restart explorer.

Currently on Version 1.41 of Start11 and it says i am currently up to date and on Windows 11 Home 21H2 OS build 22000.1761

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks C242. Not got the option to upgrade to 22H2 yet in the update cente. I can do it manually.  Is the newest version stable though?

Installing 22H2 now and installed the Beta of Start11 as well. Hopefully that fixes the issue and a few other weird ones I have experienced recently which I suspect were caused by Start11 but not 100% sure. I was ending up with two instances of my task bar. So say I clicked on one icon, say it was a Sublime text (html editor).  It would result in a new instance of my task bar. I could open Chrome which is pinned on that task bar and it was as if I had opened it new.  I thought I was going crazy.  All my tabs I was working from were gone and all my programs closed down and at the time I had no idea what was going on.  I multi task and I thought my laptop had restarted itself and booted back in whilst I was looking away from my desk. Took me awhile to figure out what was happening. I could click on my vpn icon and it would create the same behaviour.   How I realized what was happening was when I clicked on Adobe XD it did reopen my work in the previous instance and all my programs that I was currently using would now be back and available on the taskbar.  If i clicked on the programs that seemed to result in triggering this behaviour it would revert back to the second instance.
It was still there on a reboot.  I disabled Start11 to check if that was the issue and that seemed to fix the issue. Then when I switched Start11 back on it didnt happen again.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Please try this. Uninstall Start11, reboot immediately after uninstall finished (important). Reinstall Start11 latest version. Reboot again after installation finished. Retest it and report back.

Thanks

Tried all the suggestions. It still does it though :(

On 22HS for Windows 11 and Version 1.43 of Start11.  Spotify and Notepad always seem to do it.

May I know.

  1. Do you turn on the Start11 Taskbar enhance function?
  2. What is the Start11 Taskbar size set at?
  3. Location of the taskbar top or bottom?
  4. Taskbar autohide turned on or off?

Thank you,

Taskbar size is medium.  It is is align bottom.  Autohide is off.
Not sure what the ehance function is.

Thanks Basj.

I use multiple monitors and both are combined. Animations are off.

Ok found that setting now. It is on. Didnt notice it before.
End of shanetac1's quote

The issue happened when the taskbar enhance is turn on, yes? Try off it and restart explorer.exe. See if the issue still there.
