Upgrading from Fences 3

Fences 3 to 4 upgrade

from Stardock Forums

I have 4 pc's running Fences 3. If I buy the 5 license pack of Fences 4, will it be a simple upgrade to install Fences 4 over the existing Fences v3? I have a lot of fences on my main daily use PC and it would be a ton of work if I had to start from scratch.

Hello,

I believe it is best to uninstall Fences 3 before installing Fences 4. And, make sure to reboot between the uninstall V3 and install V4. And reboot again after the installation V4 finished.

From what I know, uninstall do not touch your saved layout snapshots. And Fences V4 should be able to pick it up once it get installed. But, just in-case that don't work out. You should backup your snapshot using this guide: https://forums.stardock.com/486084/fences-support-faq#backupsnapshots

Ok, thanks for the heads up. I will try it first on a more simple PC with less fences first. I appreciate the quick reply.
