Start 11 - Suppress Recent Files

Hi,

Using Start 11 - Win 7 layout there's a wee

>

symbol on each icon and mousing on to any icon immediately opens the recent files list.

Is there any way to suppress this?  So that there's JUST the icons themselves, and click to open the app?

For me, there's often a bit of a lag between when that list populates and when I can click on the icon.  For me, SEEING those recent files, while SOMEWHAT valuable, isn't as valuable to me as just getting INTO the app I need to get into.

Any way to suppress this feature?

Sincerely,

Trigo

Hello,

From what I know, there is no option to turn that feature off.

Thanks

Hi Basj,

Got it.  Roger that.  Is it the same for all the layouts?

Thanks! :D

There is no such feature for Windows 10 or Windows 11 style.

Thank you,

If your aim is to keep your recent file lists private, create a guest account for others, and 'sleep' or 'hibernate' your account when you're not actively using the computer.

That way, your recent file lists remain limited to your admin account, I believe.

Try turning off "Show recently opened items in Start, Jump Lists, and File Explorer" in the Windows settings and see if that accomplishes your desired effect. I know this works on Windows 10 with Start11 ver. 1.39, but have not tried it on Windows 11.
