Fences 3 - contents of Folder Portal with transparent text colour

After using Fences 4 as test version, I got a copy for Fences 3. I deinstalled Fences 4, installed Fences 3 and configured everything exactly the same. The only difference now, is that the Folder Portals show no text colour for the contents. While the mouse cursor is not on the Folder Portal, I cannot see any descriptions (file names, folder names). To have any file/folder names in the Folder Portal displayed, I need to hover with the cursor over the respective icon, and then the names are just transparent displayed within the marked area (I use the list view, but it's similar for other views). In the regular fences on the desktop the icons all have their icon names in white and are readable. In Fences 4 test version it also worked for Folder Portals.

I could not find any settings that could change the behaviour and went back to default settings. Changing the text colour within Fences settings only changes the colour of the name of the Folder Portal.

The crazy part is, when I try to take a screenshot (regular or with snipping tool) it looks normal, so the text colour is white and visible. But outside of screenshots I have this issue. I made a photo of my monitor to show the issues.

Is there a way to fix this?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. I believe this is known problem with Fences 3 with HDR enable monitor. Try disable HDR and see if it help your issue.

Yes, that seems to be it! Disabling HDR fixes it, but enabling/disabling HDR every time I watch/play something that supports it is tiring. Is there a work around for it? In Fences 4 this seems to be fixed, right?

It is, here a picture from my system with HDR turned on and portal fences.

Suggest to try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.

Sorry to necro this thread but this is number 1 google result for this problem and thought others might benefit from this.
So the solution for me was simply turning off "Automatically manage color for apps" in Settings > System > Display > Advanced Display. Running Fences 3 on Windows 11 (23H2), no HDR.
