While this response solved the issue for the user, the problem is that this is necessary. Multiple reboots, a purge, an uninstall, etc.

This is not proper software development. Not in the least

I have to say, I've seen the same behavior, and others have, browsing through the forums. Clearly, Fences needs to be redesigned from the ground up , to operate properly, because, as of now, it's not

Any time you cause massive problems like this (causing explorer to crash us huge) to a customer's computer, the problem is you, not the customer. I've given up on Fences, and stardock , as they just simply prove they don't care to listen to what's going on, and what customers are saying

Hi all,

i have the same issue.

If i install Fences 3 or Fences4,  both did the same.   Crash of Explorer and Fences is deactivated.

Also all other autostart programms are not starting, like Teams or Onedrive.

After deinstallation everything fine.

Deinstallation and also Purge Fences doesn´t help.

Newset Version of Fences3 and Fences4 Tried.

WIN11 21H2 Build 22000.978

maybe anyone can help.

This is exactly what I did.

Installation of Fences4 newest Version dowloaded and Explorer Crashed.

Purged done, reboot again installed and same issue.

After that  Purged again and installed Version3, same.  Explorer Crashed

Hello,
Need to know more on your system. Need to know what CPU system you have on? Also try cleanboot : https://forums.stardock.com/#cleanboot

Be careful with that message that pops up when Explorer crashes, it is likely telling you that something crashed explorer and Fences shut down as a safety measure. They key is finding the program that is causing explorer to crash. Most people take that message as "Fences crashed explorer"

The best way to try an work through finding that is through a clean boot:

Way to deflect from the actual problem

FENCES is what crashes explorer. There's a super easy way to test this. DISABLE Fences , and watch the problem not happen again

Not that hard, doesn't require a 'clean boot', or anything fancy.

Fences is garbage any more, along with the rest of Stardock stuff. There's zero QA, as noticed by the fact that this issue has been allowed to continue forever

a cleanbot system is not possible, because it´s a managed device.
