Windows no longer snapping together

Exceptions are if both windows are word or excel

I have used groupy for a few years now. The capability I use the most is to move any window slowly near the title bar of another window and they snap together. It's like magic to have many different applications tabbed. However in the past few weeks, this no longer works unless the two windows are both Excel or both Word or one Word and one Excel. Two Powerpoint windows will not snap together. This is infuriating, reducing the utility of Groupy by about 90%

There is a way to force it, but its awkward and untenable for regular day to day work.

have not changed my settings, it just stopped working for me.

Please help, I miss Groupy working like a champ!

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. May I know more on your system.

  1. Windows 7,8,10 or 11? And its full version number please.
  2. Groupy version?
  3. What change from before? Windows update? Groupy update? etc

Thanks

WIndows 10 Pro ;

  • OS build 19044.1889
  • Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.4180.0

Groupy version 1.5 (latest)

Regarding:
"What change from before? Windows update? Groupy update? et"

I have no idea, it just stopped working. I did not do a windows update recently, nor a Groupy update. SOmetimes things happen behind the scenes.

I followed instructions, uninstalled by running the .bat file. i reinstalled and entered my product key.

It is improved, in that I can now snap together Powerpoint and Edge windows, but not Outlook or File Explorer anything else nothing else - e.g. SublimeText

Any more ideas?

Thanks,

Hello,

Please explain in more detail how you combine two applications together. For me, I use "Only group when Ctrl is held down" so that I don't accidently combine any Windows on top of each other. I then just need to drag a Windows above another one while pressing the "Ctrl" key and release once the gray tab appeared. Something like the screenshot below.

Make sure you haven't accidently checked this setting.

If all else fails, purge and reinstall!

I use the setting: Always group windows when moved on top of each other.
I tried the setting you suggested (not a bad idea - I'll keep it for a while). BUT:  I still have the same limitations as I had before.

I did not and do not have the selection you underlined in red.

End of uscholdm's quote

Which is? You still can't combine explorer Windows?

Any more ideas?  To recap, I used to be able to snap together just about any two windows. Now it is very limited, mostly to Office application windows.

Thank you'
