Reinstalling ObjectDock to a different drive

I’ve been running ObjectDock for many years.  It does what I need without being too complicated.

Around 5 years ago I upgraded to a larger SSD drive for my Win 8.1 C: drive, the previous C: drive being re-designated as the D: drive.  ObjectDock was then re-installed on the new C: drive.

Last week, I cleared old and/or duplicate files from that D: drive.  Since then, on Start-up, OD has asked for a file on the D: drive, failing because that file is no longer there.  [Screenshot attached.]

  • Skin loading failed: Could not find a part of the path ‘D:\Program files(x86)\ObjectDock\Skin\Tray.
  • ObjectDock’s integrity has been compromised. Please reinstall ObjectDock.

I’ve done that reinstall multiple times since, using both my original file and a freshly downloaded file, but it still keeps asking for that Tray file on D:.  If I uninstall via Control Panel and then reinstall, it works fine … until the next pc restart when it again asks for the missing file.

How do I re-set it so that it points to the current install files and not that old file from the original installation?  (I think I may have had to use a Purge tool in the past, but expect the one I had is now out of date.  If I have to do that again, will that also delete all my current Docks & Icons/shortcuts?)

If so, can you remind me how to do a backup of ObjectDock please, so that I retain my current Docks and Icons/shortcuts?  It may sound a basic or dumb question, but OD has run smoothly for years so I’ve forgotten some of these things!

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. But, you might be interested in these guides :

  2. https://forums.stardock.com/485816/objectdock-support-faq#docksettings.

If the above don't work, Please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.

Just done the purge session and re-started the pc.  It all seems to be back running properly again and without (so far ...) asking for that file from D: on start-up.  A web outage in the midst of doing it all was not helpful!

Thanks for the help.

The only outstanding issue now is that, for some reason, when the registration screen comes up it's still showing a (very) old email address - possibly the one I had when I bought OD many years ago.  It's not a problem, just curious as it it doesn't now show anywhere in my profile.

Not really sure on this one. It might be you have done the merge the old and your new email account together, and somehow the old one still retain in the system.

Yes, it's a slightly weird one.  However, as it's letting me install overwriting that old one with my current address, it's not causing any problems, so I'll just leave it as is for now.

Thanks!
