A Possible Low Priority Bug

Possible Bug

This is a minor bug but with version 1.24 of Start 11, I can do everything except pin any shortcut (with me, it is an internet shortcut) to Start 11.  The message to pin to start 11 is not there.  I'd welcome you to remote into my system if you like.  This is NOT HIGH Priority

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. There is some extra steps to pin web page to Start11. What I did and it seem to work for me.

  • Save that web page somewhere in your hard drive.
  • Go to that save web page, right click on it and create shortcut to it.
  • Right Click on that new shortcut and select "Pin to Start11".

Thanks

Yes.   I have circumvented the bug as well.  Thanks!

Basj, your solution doesn't solve my problem.  I need to be able to pin a URL (.lnk) shortcut to the Start11 menu.  When the user selects this menu choice, Start11 should use the default browser to open the website specified in the shortcut (e.g., amazon.com, or shopping.google.com, or getpocket.com, or google.com/maps).  Your suggestion of saving a webpage only puts that *saved* webpage on the menu; it doesn't give the ability to open the live webpage on the internet.

Do you have another idea?

Do you have Edge installed? If you do, you should be able to use Edge feature "Install web page as an app"  https://www.makeuseof.com/websites-desktop-apps-windows/. Than pin that app to Start11.

Note: Please do not use your email address as your username. Please change it as soon as possible.

Thank you,
