Background color goes black

Sometimes the desktop background color goes black.  I can't see my fences, but I can see the icons.  I am using a solid background color in my preferences.  This happens on another computer as well.  When I right click on the desktop and choose Configure Fences, the colors for my fences and desktop goes back to normal.

This issue only happen with Solid Color background? Not on normal picture wallpaper background?

It happens with user image file backgrounds too. I reported the problem already on this thread. That thread was closed without the problem being acknowledged and indeed so far as I can tell without the problem being investigated.

Noted, thanks. Do you have Active Object Desktop subscription? If you do can you try Fences 4?

@Basj,

1) You say, 'Noted'. Well, are the developers working on the problem at issue, please?

2) Do you mean an active Fences subscription? If you do: what is one of those? I myself (as against the other user in this thread) have on my Stardock record a Fences 2 purchase and a purchase of an upgrade to Fences 3. I note also (as you did not) that Fences 4 is presently . . alpha software.

1. I said, noted. That mean, I noted, I have no idea on what the dev team is working on now.

2. No, I mean Object Desktop subscription : ie : https://www.stardock.com/products/odnt/. If you do not, than you can't download Fences 4 alpha to test if Fences 4 resolve your issue. I am now forward your problem/question to Stardock Support Team for their assistance. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We appreciate your feedback and patience.

1. recently, it gets black after startup shortly. Last week, I can turn it back to normal via check/recheck start desktop fence. But it doesn't work today.

2. I didn't do anything after startup.

3. version 22000.282, fences 3.1.3.3, and I remembered I updated my video driver(nv) last week to 496.49.

It was happening 5 times per week with the latest version of 3.   I am now trying version 4 Alpha for one day, so far so good.  I have an active subscription for Object Desktop.

Fences 4 seems to be working.  I also have a license for Fences 3 for a different computer.  Can you fix the problem on fences 3?  It was working before.  I think you should rollback to a previous version.  Can you tell me where to download those?

I found a version of Fences 3 that works from early 2021.  The only problem is that I get a popup everytime I login into windows telling me to update my Fences.  I have not found a setting that turns this update off.  If I upgrade then I get black screens.
