Ok I poured my heart into this wallpaper and....

I put up a wallpaper the other day, and I am assuming that it didn't make it because it is not in my uploads anymore. Although I dissagree with this. I would at least like to know whether it got denied or not. It is sort of just in limbo. Now, IMO it is pretty nice work and would be an excellent wallpaper for someone.

This new submission I know is good so I would like to know exactly how this works and why my other submission might not have gotten accepted. I put many hours into my work so I can't keep making wallpaper designs if they aren't going to be used...

Don't know and wouldn't want to guess. Just wish you would have put it in your profile instead of on the MSGBD.

You could have just emailed an admin and asked.

naitsirch79....posting your 'moderated' wall publicly will likely lead to comments you probably would rather not receive....and is better treated privately via email....

unfortunately a lot of abuse followed rejections so wallpaper submissions no longer get feedback if they aren't accepted. As you didn't get any feedback you can assume it didn't meet the standards at WC which are fairly high. Submit to Deviant Art and see what kind of feedback you get from there as a guide to improvement.

Keep working at it!

If the wallpaper is no longer appearing in your uploads that means it was moderated and not accepted. The mods---all volunteers on their own time, not WC/SD employees---stopped sending notification emails to uploaders due to the all too many obscenity laden hate emails they received in return. Now they just notify people when the work is accepted.

There are other sites which do not moderate wallpapers so if you're making them primarily to have them posted on the net, you may want to try those other sites. I believe DeviantArt.com has no moderation and a large selection of works, just for one example.

ok but that is cool but don't you think this one is pretty good.

I knew it is huge but it is on my server...

ok I am cool with it but what do you guys think about this one?

Thanks for the input though

No...nothing 'wrong', but a public discussion about the 'alleged failings' of a specific work will lead to argument/flame about 'personal taste', when infact the determination of what is, and is not accepted within the Wallpaper section is solely in the hands of the site's moderators....

I just see a red X. But posting walls in regular discussion threads isn't particularly welcomed by those on dial up. As WOM said, you could have instead loaded it in your profile and then it would show up as your desktop image when someone clicked on your name.

a huge pumpkin. There in a nutshell is the problem with posting images on the board. WOuldn't mind so much if it was a thumb. Perhaps there should be a size limit?

Nope, but I've got some software that blocks ads and other stuff which I'm guessing may be why I don't see it since it was on a third party site and not WC. Not a problem.

OK...since you insist on asking....my PERSONAL [non-admin] opinion is I'd never use it, not when there are works by Nuvem or MobiusCo to choose from.

The official [moderator] opinion is it looks to be a poor attempt at a copy of the style currently being lauded with the efforts/submissions by Jairo Boudewyn, and as such pales in comparison.  The 3 dimensionality is diminished by a lack of appropriate shadow, the writing/title is amateurish and the spots are ..... 'spotty'....doing nothing for the composition.  The 'stem' appears to be an afterthought, belonging to a different piece...either by lighting or colour-use, or both.

People can pour their heart and soul into something, and/or they can say 'I was bored and chucked this together', but in reality neither will guarantee a genuinely 'great' result.

Emulating another's consumate style has often been a disaster looking for an outlet.....usually that's the case with Bryce and Terragen pieces.

Previously these [or similar] comments accompanied a 'rejection' email, resulting in violent, personal attack/insult being directed at the Moderators, hence the practise of sending notification ceased, but the avenue of email always exists for more 'private' clarification/explanation for those who politely requested it...

I don't think jairo invented the "wet looking" effect. I would also say that he uses 100 percent shapes and when using free hand you can tell his obvious lack of artistry skills. On the other hand this was done completely free hand. I will give Jairo this, shading is excellent and admired but again he never inveted the wet effect. My rain could even help his pictures a bit and I would be glad to give him the recipe. First there was Van Gogh and then there was Monet. Techniques are learned and then mastered on their own interpretation by borrowing "good" techniques. Your allusion to a "rip off" is a little distastefull. I didn't mind the didn't use shadows or could have done better on the stem, because that is actually a critique and something that I can do better.

I do agree that I should get rid of the text. So again thanks but don't go overboard.

Comparing Van gough and Monet is like comparing naitsrck79 and Jario.
