Groupy 1.50 Changelog

  • On Win11, explorer windows no longer have a black top bar when in combine mode.
  • Tweak to stop file copy dialogs being grouped with other windows (say xplorer2)
  • Tweak which may resolve black flash issue on Win7 when switching tabs,
  • Fix for FancyZones compatibility.
  • Note that tabs will not look ideal on Win11 and other issues may exist as early build of OS, but the worst issue (black bar) resolved.
  • Resolve a flicker issue changing tabs in Win11 sometimes (explorer only we think)
  • Fixed a problem with maximized windows shifting in from the screen border sometimes
  • Updated Korean language:

  • Fix for the reported issue with windows with text updating on another virtual desktop causing groupy flicker on the other desktop.
  • Tweaks + button to ignore the file passed to notepad so notepad always opens a new instance.
  • Updated Groupy build to address customer reported issue on forums with TickTick (not TikTok)

Good morning, I just installed the Beta and I am noting and issue that I did not have in previous versions

So I use the multiple desktops feature in windows

I have the "Automatically group all 'chrome.exe' windows together" option checked.

In the past groupy would allow me to have a 'chrome.exe' group for each desktop and they would not interfere with each other

now when I open a group on my desktop that I have named "office" it takes a single tab (not all tabs) from the chrome.exe group on a different desktop and moves it to the new group I am opening.  It leaves the group on my other desktop in tact besides the single tab which was moved to my new group.

hopefully you can understand my explanation.  I can elaborate if needed.

Windows 11 Version 21H2 (OS Build 22000.168)

Thanks

Norm

End of NWalsh3000's quote

I gather that 'single tab snagged is a random one or the last opened and is not a new 'blank' tab but one you had at a desired destination, yes?

Yes, not a blank tab.  A tab that was on a different desktop and in use.  I have also noticed if I close the group and re-open a new group it grabs another tab from a different desktop.

To be clear these are all instances of the same app (chrome). Auto group is turned on.  The way groups worked for me in the previous version was it would not auto group windows that were on a different desktop.

I have a feeling you already know what I'm saying but I will give an example.

Desktop 1 has these windows open and grouped (D=Desktop C= Chrome)

D1C1,D1C2,D1C3

I launch two instances of chrome on  Desktop 2 (It used to just group the new instances together)

Desktop 1 now groups

D1C1,D1C2 (No D1C3)

Desktop 2 now groups

D2C1,D2C2,D1C3) (D1C3 is taken from Desktop 1)

Hope this helps, sorry if it's confusing. Thanks You

Norm

This latest release seems to have changed behavior again. In attempting to group a teams dashboard window with onenote and a teams call. If two windows are grouped adding the third brings up an "insert into group here" prompt in the menu bar and I am not able to determine how to actually make it happen.

help!
