Still not working.  I actually renewed my sub 3 days before it was due but now it's 4 days after the expiration and it still won't update. 

->> Is this a product problem, or internet problem? I usually run with a VPN, but have tried it both ways. Same permission error.

I can't get any assistance with support on this. I want to CANCEL this order. Yes I submitted a request for that.

I've been supporting Stardock for about 15 years and this is the first annoyance I've ever had.

I'm really disappointed.

Everyone is asleep but you. All I get is an email with a canned response about how to find my keys. I have them. I can't get OD to install. It has a permission error.

I'll do without it I guess. Keep my money for the sub. Maybe one day I'll get a response. I won't subscribe again.

Myself I don't use ODM for my Downloads I use my Account

which always has the latest versions .

When you install those via direct download is error pop up as what you post in your initial post? Can you try these step just a test.

  1. Install Fences using the installer you download from your account.
  2. If the same issue appear.
  3. Do the Cleanboot install,  using these step and install from new admin account. https://forums.stardock.com/486084/fences-support-faq#cleanboot.

Try that and report back.

I don't have OD but that error looks to me like a Windows file permission error. AVs or even Windows could be deep scanning the file at the time of opening causing that error.

It almost certainly is but software developers get the blame 😉

As a test, create a new Windows Administrator account:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/create-a-local-user-or-administrator-account-in-windows-10-20de74e0-ac7f-3502-a866-32915af2a34d

Try to install (will almost certainly work).

You can then log onto your normal account (and delete the other if you wish).

No one blaming anyone.

Wanted a solution for getting it to work.

 

Anywho... I've also got a Windows 11 machine now and will once again, give it a try.  I already picked up Start 11.  :sun:
