Just because someone makes a blanket statement that they or others use IRC for file swapping doesn't make it so.

It's basically an IM session with multiple people. Does that mean AIM/MSN/ICQ are used primarily for fileswapping and not for the simple pleasure of interaction?

IRC chatter can be as synchronous or as asynchronous as you want. You can chat away as much or as little as you want. You can simply idle in the channel and ocassonally peek in and scroll back up to see if someone posted anything interesting and worth responding to

I feel also that message boards such as this one satisfy my need for info and I dont need to get into daily chat sessions that have to be constantley watched....I usally make a post and go do something else..You cant really do that on an irc..you are actually carrying on a conversasion via your computer....

hmm well i just do brb or bbl when in irc which allows me to go do anything i want. best part about irc when people are there is i can ask a question and get an answer. unlike a forum you lucky if someone reads it right away and answers you

because quite simply I do not like to chat and have banned chatting on the computer in my house.... forums are alot better. no cross converstaions are cussing and such.

i only posted this just to see why not many seem to use the irc that is hosted by stardock , was not meaning it to start fights. so at any time an admin may remove this one. for think i got my answer lol

Yeah cuz alot of citizens just wanna fight over anything you say...Its why, irc are usally just trouble in the first place....Not like back in the day when we just used to talk about sex stuff and pick up on each other ..

No not really i still reckon to many maybe unsure about it, maybe the fact because its live. Same feeling goes for a answer machine, how many people will actually talk to it to leave their msg?

Alot of gamers are also big into IRC, because they meet everyday have clan games and leauges etc

Some will think its bad because they may have heard about bad things of IRC, you never realy hear about the good sides.

He is a good friend of mine, and helped me out plenty of times. maybe you all should think of just apoligizing to each other and talk to one another. You might find, just as I did, that madIce is a great guy and deserves much respect, just like anyone, including you does.

Actually, there are verty few citizens on the irc's here and very little cussing. Also we don't put up with to much nonsense there either.

Drop125: Out of the blue? You have your opinion ready eventhough you were never there. You also did that in another thread recently where IRC was a subject for a bit. There are people who have been in #Stardock and #WinCustomize for a very long time and never did any of the things you are mentioning. That is, to say the least, very unfriendly.

Okay I got a ???? My friend uses mIRC to DL Movies software and such...The Admin Frogboy uses the same IRC to, I dont get it..Why not just use Kazaa to chat also?????If you can do P2P and DL stuff on both ..What makes an IRC diffrent from Grokster or Napster...They both serve as a communication and file sharing tool...? So they both can be easily misused to steal right???? So who is more right..or who is more wrong..Im not Striking out at Frogboy..I just was reading his News post and noticed he was running the same mIRC Software that I know Alot of ppl use to dl illeagely....So how am I wrong using a blanket type remark???? If an irc can be used to do illeagle things why is mIRC not on the RIAA list also...Just because someone doesnt use it. So even if your on #wincustomize irc, do you still have to use Trillion or mIRC to chat..If so isnt this facviloitating a ways to steal.????
