Icons move to secondary monitor

Hi, I run dual monitor setup. Monitor 1 is my primary monitor plugged in via DP and monitor 2 is my secondary monitor plugged in via HDMI. When I extend from monitor 1 all my icons move to the secondary monitor EXCEPT the Fences. Can you help sort it out?

I use Win10 Pro, GTX970

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need more information on your issue and system.

  1. Windows 10 full version numbers, you can use Winver.exe for that.
  2. Fences version.
  3. Is those icons that moved, inside a Fences or those on the desktop?
  4. Have you refer to this guide : https://forums.stardock.com/486084/fences-support-faq#multimonitor

Thanks

1. Win 10 Pro 1909, Build 18363.1256

2. Fences 3.0.3

3. Icons are on desktop, icons in fences as well as fences "container" stays on right monitor, but desktop icons move to secondary

4. I have checked the guide but I don't know where I can find Fences in registry

Also I use scaling on secondary monitor if this can help

Fences can't control icons on desktop since that will be control by Windows and your setting on "Auto Arrange Icons". If that is selected the icons will move by Windows. If you don't like that, than,  you should disable/un-tick "Auto Arrange Icons" or make one Fences and set a Fences rule so all new icons go there and you can put that Fences anywhere you like.

So it's windows based issue? I turned off my PC and back on, and everything moved to secondary monitor even fences. Can you navigate me to find fences in registry? I dont have "auto-arrange" ticked.

I have one more question. What language do you use to code Fences? You don't have to answer this, I am just curious because I study IT at uni and this cought my eye also because I think desktop customization has potencial but maybe I am wrong.

Anyway thank you for help and fast response.

Hi,

I'm also having an issue with the Fences showing up on the secondary monitor (occasionally) after computer start. I tried the recommended remedies to no avail. It would suffice if there was a button in the UI to say "Move fences to primary monitor now" and fingers crossed they'd stay there for the next reboot.

Thank you.
