Fences makes windows hanging while the shortcut path unable to connect

hang until i turn on Flight Mode to cut off the network

Hi, I'm a user from version 1 , 2, 3,  I loved Fences features keep improving! Thank you!

But there's a problem along with every Fences version, while I working in company,  I shortcut some frequently folder path at my desktop.

but when I'm not around this network then Fences makes windows hanging while the shortcut path unable to connect, it makes me crazy!!

The only way I found was turn it into Flight Mode to cut off the network, Fences back to normal, but while I connect to network, this crazy hanging again and again.

Any Ideas to fix this issue?

Hi Basj

Thank you for prompt response, I've try your solution to put all shortcuts into a folder and folder portal, it seems helpful to my initial issue.

but then, I found even i followed "Stop folder portal navigation from opening in a new Explorer window" procedure , i cannot open the shortcut by double clicks.

Thank you!

Hi Basj

sorry that my mic doesn't work, please see video link below:

I would prefer to open the shortcut folder in folder portal with double click in a new window, not navigation from the folder portal.

But it was no response while I double click on the shortcut folder.

another shortcut folder isn't inside folder portal can double click and open in a new window.

Thank you!

Hello,

Is the Fences setting "Allow navigation" is un-ticked? When you double click that Folder? It is not really clear from your video. Seem to me you have click on "Allow navigation" before you double click on the folder. If "Allow navigation" ticked, you will always able to navigate within the portal fences itself. If you wanted to open a new File Explorer for that folder, you will need to "un-ticked" Allow navigation.

Thank you,

Hi Basj

Yes, i did un-ticked  the "Allow navigation" , and when i double click on the folder, nothing happen just like the video you may not understand what am i doing,  there's no new window appear.

I have to use a stupid way to right click on the folder in folder portal, and select "open in new window". But the folder wasn't inside folder portal can open in new window by double click.

Do you have any way can modify Regedit.exe to fix this? or other way?

Thank you!

Hello,

Here is a  guide to make sure Folder portal not to open a new File Explorer. But in your case you want it to open a new File explorer, so you might still use this guide and do the opposite of this guide

Try it and report back.
