Continuos crashing on Windows 10 x64 20H2

I just upgrade to the latest Windows 10 x64 20H2 and after that Fences continues to crash until I stop and uninstall the program 😭

Is this a know issue and is there a fix in the mix? 😁

Friendly regards

So it looks like a shortcut to a google search was the issue.

Hi,

I am not in a corporate environment. I do not have Websense \ Forcepointinstalled.

I have tried purge etc, Sean.

This must be an issue related to Windows 10 normal updates.

Have you found the problem all of us are experiencing yet?

It seems there's a problem with acrobat and fences!

when you "enable PDF thumbnail previews in windows explorer" it crashes Fences...

I always had it setup like that but since two days ago no can do... it crashes and continues crashing

After acrobat is removed fences works just fine...and vice versa

Can you guys fix it, please!

Hi Ricardo,

In my Adobe Reader DC the "PDF thumbnail previews in windows explorer is not checked, and I still have crashing Fences issue.

So far Fences 4 Beta is working (as Fences 3.12 used to). Using on Trial period to evaluate if Windows Exolorer crash is resolved in ver 4 beta.

Hi Sean,

Yes, that was to show the exact combination the fixed the issue, which was just doing a custom rule for Explorer.exe and Enabling "Don't use high entropy"

I'm guessing the reason you not seeing this with most of you customers is that most of them are not as security focused as me.

By default Windows does not enforce all the exploit protection and security features that I have enabled (I'm a security engineer).

But if you enable all the great Windows 10 security features:
¤ Core Isolation
¤ Have a Security Processor
¤ Have Secure Boot enabled and configured
¤ Enable Exploit Protection (All to "On by default" for entire System)

Then you might see this too.

But still something change from 2004 -> 20H2 as I've had these features on before upgrading.

If you want to I'm willing to supply logs/ dumps and I have already send in th BugSplat reports to get it fixed?

I have been using your great Fences for almost a decade now and don't see that changing anytime soon 😉
