Object Desktop

Anything in Object Desktop that helps speed PC?

To Whom it may concern,

I am familiar with Stardock from having Start8 that also worked, for me when I Upgraded Win 8.0 to 8.1 to Win 10 all on the same previous PC on one HDD with Win 7 Ultimate. All versions 64bit with AMD 3.5GHz and 8GB Memory.

Does anyone know if any part of Object Desktop helps Windows 10 Professional 64bit v.1909, Intel i7 - 2600 CPU @ 3.4GHz, 16GB Memory, 2TB HDD Desktop PC run any faster?

This is actually the very slowest New Windows Desktop PC I have ever had from Win. 95 up to Win 10 Pro, 8GB Memory, AMD CPU @ 3.5GHz. My last PC had Windows 7 Ultimate OS 64bit on one HDD and Windows 10 on a separate HDD, Windows 8.0, 8.1, to 10. All 64bit and using the same AMD CPU, 3.5GHz, 8GB Memory.

The difference is that AMD PC had separate HD Video Card with its own 1GB on card Memory to the Intel PC's Integrated HD Video from the Double the size PC Memory. 16GB vs 8GB Memory on the AMD PC. That really bugs me. Double the Memory and about Half as Fast or less.

I start my PC and go for a snack, make lunch/dinner, or whatever and I return and Maybe Windows  10 Professional will be finally loaded. I have turned many things off that are not necessary to run at the start and does not seem to help much if at all. It drives me nuts and before this new PC, a guaranteed refurbished PC I bought from Amazon.com. Amazon's site said guarantee only good for 90 days so I paid the $40 extra for extended 3-year guarantee Plus the company that did the refurbishing had a paper in the box telling me the PC comes with a 1-year guarantee, not just 90 days. So with the 3 extra years on top of the 1-year is now a PC with 4-years of a warrantee. Not a bad deal for the extra $40.

I am good with PC's since the last 4 I had were built by me from Kits. Easy for me since I am only plugging-in things and tightening them down with a screwdriver for the most part.

Any guidance on this issue will be Greatly Appreciated!

with Sincere Thanks,

Gary S.

Adding any new program to an existing slow system is generally unlikely to speed up the system.

What's more likely is you have an OS install, or update, or hardware driver issue.

Only option generally is to wipe the drive and do a straight full install of the intended OS, allow it to update.. and manually check for any specific hardware drivers.

One 'entertaining' issue with win10 is MS will require 3rd party programs to load only after the OS is fully loaded....that is the specific reason Stardock's Fences seems to slow things down.  It doesn't.

Avoid installing ANY program until you are happy with the 'clean' boot time...;)

Hello,
I don't believe there is anything under ObjectDesktop package can help speed up your PC. The best thing I did to make my old Intel i5-2500K blazing fast on boot up, is by put in a new SSD for system drive. And I do believe it will help yours too.

Thanks

Hi guys,

Thanks for your replies. I was afraid that would be the main choices of my issue. Clean Wipe of HDD then Clean Install of Win 10 Pro and Updates of device drivers and Microsoft programs. A new SSD is a great idea too. Install Win 10 Pro on the SSD and most likely partition the 2TB HDD to better manage storage options that way.

Now time to shop for an inexpensive but good brand SSD.

Sincerely,
