Desktop image with double click

80% of my desktop is filled with fences so my desktop background is a solid off-white color (an image would obscure the icons.)

I have set Fences so that the icons get hidden when double-clicking the desktop.

The issue is when I do this my desktop is then a plain solid color.

Is there any way to set it so that when I double click to hide the fences, I can get a background image? And then when I double-click again to reveal the fences, the original setting (solid color) would come back?
