Skinning only the taskbar while using default theme

I'm running Windows 10 and would like to use the default theme, but with a customized taskbar.

I applied the default theme, went to Settings and under "Use the taskbar and start menu from this style": I selected the style I wanted and hit "Apply Settings Now" however nothing happens.

If I am using anything other than the default theme I can choose a different taskbar.

Are you not able to use a custom taskbar with the default theme?

"Use the taskbar and start menu from this style": I selected the style I wanted and hit "Apply Settings Now"
End of quote
What it means is whether you want to use the Taskbar and the Start menue from the skin Currently applied...or Not... -At least that is what I always thought.

Yep that's what this setting is supposed to do. However if I have the default theme selected and choose something such as Diamond for the taskbar, the taskbar does not change.

When you apply the default theme you're unloading WB, so the "Use taskbar..." is ignored.  You need to have a WB skin loaded, so that WB is loaded, before it will use the taskbar from the theme you've chosen there,.

Gotcha, thanks guys!

Is there perhaps another way I can have the taskbar skinned and nothing else?

Not with any Stardock software.  There are a lot of skins to choose from though.  A little tip - When going through the gallery, you can go to the second page, then just replace the ending "2" with a larger number (e.g. "30") to jump to that page.  In other words, you can go through several pages and, when you're ready to stop for awhile, you can make note of where you're stopping and then just jump to that page when you're ready to peruse some more.
