Issue with updating my Start10

I've been having issues with updating my Start10 on my Windows 10 Pro laptop. I keep on getting an error message (Problem: Code 121) that stops the installation. I have tried the purge option, but it hasn't worked for me at all.

I'm attaching a picture of my issue in the hopes that someone in Support can help me out.

Thank you.

Klane,

What is this app?

If it is an AV product, please shut it down and try again.

It is a software program called KeyScrambler.

Here is the link: https://www.qfxsoftware.com/index.html

I've used it for years without any interference with any Stardock program.

Well, if it is popping up when you are getting the error, I would like to temporarily shut it down to see if there in is the cause.

Will do.

I'll let you know the results.

Update: Shut KeyScrambler completely down, and tried to re-install the update to Start10.

Same results, with the same error messages that I'm posting in this reply.

I guess I'm going have to ask what's my next step?

I found out what was the issue.

The "Controlled Access Folder" in Windows 10 Pro was blocking any changes to any protected folder, and that included any Stardock folders.

When I turned it off, I was allowed to update Start10, and any other Stardock program (I made sure to turn it back on for security reasons.)

As shown, now Start10 is at the latest version, as of today, Sunday, June 16, 2019. And, Start10 is now working exactly just as I wanted it for my laptop, with no issues whatsoever.

So now, this case can now be closed.

FYI that is not auto enabled with windows 10, that has to be manually turned on.

It's possible that your antivirus turned it on, as it's one of many ways to stop ransonware from infecting your pc.

Hello!

I have the same problem here when trying to update. Tried disabling Bitdefender but problem persisted. I was only successful installing v1.71b by uninstalling Start10 (which by the way left the install directory AND all its files intact?!), manually deleting the install directory, then installing Start10 in Safe Mode!

I was having problems too and I ended up manually deleting the start 10 folder on my C drive and then it would allow me to install it. For some odd reason it didn't uninstall it when it was installing. But now that I know. I kept getting this product isn't activated even though I reactivated (Object Dock) last night but hey it is working and I/m happy now.
