Various mouse issues with certain programs.
Hi. Multiplicity has been working for me (aside from some previously mentioned oddities, like the bogus 'Password Invalid' alert), but I have run into some issues specific to certain software that I'm hoping to get some help with:
-Modo (3D modeling/animation): When controlled via Multiplicity, the mouse movement acts very odd... Buttons work, and the movement (as far as moving the mouse around the interface) works fine, too. However, if I try and do something like drag out a cube (or any type of 3D object manipulation, as opposed to just moving the mouse cursor around the screen), I get an odd behavior which is a bit hard to describe, and not really possible to do a screen recording of, as you'd have to see the mouse movement AND the mouse pointer to note the discrepency). Basically, the mouse pointer's movement (when manipulating/building 3D objects) seems 'amplified', and once initiated, it doesn't seem to respond properly to CHANGES in direction. Instead, if (say) I'm dragging downwards, and then drag upwards, the pointer/shape will continue in the initial direction. So, overall, the mouse is moving/clicking fine in every aspect of the interface, but for some reason the situation is differnt when manipulating an object. I would be REALLY interested in some theories of what might be happening here, as it makes it virtually impossible for me to use the program (through Multiplicity).
-Certain games (ex. Humans Fall Flat, Rebel Galaxy, Star Wars Battlefront 2) show mouse issues... but again, just in specific situations. Moving the mouse around the interface (to click menu items) is all great, but in the case of Humans Fall Flat, mouse clicks work, but mouse movement doesn't (player character doesn't turn around). In the case of Rebel Galaxy, the mouse pointer seems to snap to the center of the screen, and orbiting the camera around your ship (via mouse movement) seems to only go one direction, and is almost random (...a little similar to the Modo behavior, above). In SW Battlefront 2, you end up with TWO mouse pointers... One doesn't move, and the other moves at a hugely accelerated rate (jumps a large amount with each tiny move of the mouse), making it impossible to actually click on menu items.
-As I had mentioned in one of my previous posts, Multiplicity doesn't appear to transmit drawing tablet pressure, which is a real drag when using any paint program (...I have to plus the tablet into the Secondary machine, and sort of disable Multiplicity, as it 'pins' the pointer in one spot, otherwise). Pressure info transmision would be really appreciated.
As far as the first two items, it seems Multiplicity is working overall, but there is some aspect of certain programs where the mouse movement routine is different than other programs (or even other parts of the same software). I'm not well-versed enough in app programming to really know what those differences may be, but it is certain CERTAIN aspects (ex. manipulating the objects in the 3D viewport of the modeling program... or camera control of a space sim), yet the mouse otherwise works fine (ex. can navigate the menus fine, etc). So, it's not Multiplicity GLOBALLY failing... but failing in whatever is different in those particular aspects of those particular programs.
I wish I could provide a screen recording, but without seeing what I am doing with the mouse, the recorded behavior would be useless.
If Stardock is sincerely interested in trying to remedy this, I could perhaps do a narrated screen recording, to try and indicate what the mouse is doing as you watch the screen behavior.
I'm really hoping someone (Stardock or even other users) can provide some possible theories on what might be causing these things, and ideally suggest some solution.
If you need any other info, please let me know.
