WindowBlinds 3.51 available

WindowBlinds 3.51 available

I believe I've got all the enhanced, ODNT, and Stardock Central installers properly updated now. Use the form at https://www.stardock.com/support to get the enhanced links and serials or your CM/SDC as appropriate.

Customers who's ODNT subscriptions have expired, please contact sales@stardock.com with your serial. They have a link that you can use with the CM to get 3.51.

Any other specific questions on this, email kwilas@stardock.com rather than support. They have enough with the people who aren't reading here for info on this matter.

Sorry this if off topic but a frustration lately. Why is it that we get people who claim to be educated and yet can't spell, punctuate, or use proper capitalization? Have we just become lazy or careless?

After unistalling 3.5a, clearing everything ( directories, registry ) and installing 3.51, I've noticed that start button, dialog buttons, the tasks in taskbar, menus, checkboxes and radio buttons stopped skinning.
And also have the problem of tabs that have icons in them ( like SDC ) appear black.

Any ideas?

Michael.
PS. This is on Win2000pro.

Drop125, since you refer to the tech support that you spoke with as being female, you were obviously speaking with me (as I am the only female tech support...)

Anyway, you obviously have misunderstood on how to use it or did not follow up with support on your questions.

You absolutely can install it on a non-internet machine (and if you would have emailed support for clarification, I would have explained it to you).  First, you install the Component Manager and fill in your information.  Press "update configuration".  this will fail to connect *but* it will add your serial number into your registry (make sure this is the serial number that you registered the other install with).  you then make a backup on the internet connected machine and restore it on the non-internet machine (this is through the built in "backup/restore" features.)  They then show up in "downloaded components" as ready to install.

you have to logically look at this a minute.  You purchased an online subscription.  It's typically assumed that you have internet access when you purchase an online subscription.  If you are not online, we offer Object Desktop on a neatly self-contained CD.

You have never been misled.  You simply just don't understand the whole concept.  Our web site clearly shows both the download and CD option for purchase.  It also clearly states that Object Desktop is an online subscription service.  It is not sales short comings that you did not understand that.  What you said about support is also untrue: "Stardock support Basically said Tough We cant really help you out.."  Considering that I manage support, I can assure you that nobody ever said that to you or anyone.  If we feel that we can not resolve an issue, then we suggest a refund.  We *never* say that we can't help you.

And as I stated before, you would most likely be better off emailing support instead of posting.  Public posts get public replies.

Have you tried uninstalling, *reboot*, then reinstall?  You may have had locked files that didn't get updated correctly.  (Which could happen with any software).

I agree with the consensus here Drop125 dude. And believe me dude, I''''m a rebel against them most of the time. lol. That''''s why I decided to go into hiding and become Incognito. But, let me say this.
I have Windows98SE and WinXP Pro and I installed Windowblinds on both platforms. I have absolutely no problems. It sounds to me like you have a problem that is not related to WB. Missing system files, changed default WB settings, or conflicting software sounds like your problem.
I knew someone with a similar problem. They worked with their IT department and couldn''''t get windowblinds to work on their network computers at work. So, they blamed it on Windowblinds. What they don''''t understand is that many of these IT people will strip windows(slice and dice it), to keep employees from doing anything but work on it. They remove all sorts of programs and intergral files and ruin the ability of programs like windowblinds to work properly. Then, they blame it on Windowblinds. That is not fair.
Let me give you a little constructive advice as a rebel. As the saying goes, before you blame others, make sure your own closet is clean. What I am saying, constructively, is diagnose the problem on a clean install of windows.(Therefore making sure your own closet is clean). Then, when start to encounter trouble you can diagnose it to a system change that you made. Things just don''''t suddenly stop working without a change to the system.
I had a problem where my WindowsXP would crash and not start up at all. I reinstalled my system 3 times before I traced the problem. It was due to a third party driver offered at Windows Update. Of course Windows denies any responsibility for third party drivers. Lesson learned? Be careful what you put on your computer, even if it comes from Microsoft.Good Luck. Best wishes with your problem and don''''t misunderstand that my suggestions were with the best of intentions. Computer problems must be dealt with logically, not emotionally, or you will just throw it out of the window. lol.

This message board has some problems. When you edit a message it doubles all punctuation, and line breaks. I end up having to re-edit my message in an attempt not to waste the server space or seem "uneducated". Oh heck, now I have four apostrophies. I give up. lol.
