How to eliminate transparency ... everywhere & always

Eliminate all transparency

I have the full Object Desktop suite. I do not know how or why or when or what I did, but somehow one or more of the Stardock apps implemented transparency -- for example, when two browser windows overlap, one of them becomes semi-transparent, especially when I try to move it. I would like to eliminate ALL transparency ... always and everywhere. Do you know which one or more of the apps is responsible for the transparency, and how to get rid of all instances of transparency everywhere and always?  I do not know if it's just me, but I hate transparency, semi-transparency, etc.

Does anyone have any idea(s) what setting(s) I should change in which app(s) so I can permanently eliminate all transparency everywhere and forevermore?

Much appreciated,
-Jeff

It sounds like you have enabled some features in WindowFX which offers options to make windows translucent when dragging them etc.

Hi Neil,

That seem[ed\s] to be the way. Bravo! However ...

In WindowFX, I unchecked "Make inactive windows semi-transparent," and I also unchecked "Windows should be semi-transparent when being moved and sized." Unfortunately and inexplicably, neither of these "unchecks" seemed to have any effect. I even disabled the entire WindowsFX app, but no difference.

Also, under "Right click menu" I unchecked "Adjust window transparency," but also no effect -- actually, I don't know what that checkbox is for, since it doesn't seem to give me a transparency slider (or anything with similar function) ... maybe that checkbox is useful to WindowsFX cognoscenti during some of their secret activities. And also, there's a blue pushpin next to it which I can't get rid of, which is probably fine since the whole thing doesn't seem to do anything for me anyway. And while I'm venting my frustration: even hokey apps like Sticky Notes become semi-transparent when moved.  Now I'll try restarting, and get back to you.

I appreciate your patience with me.

Thanks, -Jeff

Well, Neil, no luck. For once Windows 10 did what it's supposed to do: which is not to change settings just because of a basic restart.

So ... maybe some other Stardock app?

Thanks mucho,
-Jeff

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having issues. Could you post a screenshot or video grab of your problem. That will help us to help you.

Thanks

Hi basj,

Sorry for the delay. I couldn't find an icon on the top ribbon that enabled me to attach a file.  I guess it's a subitem of the "+" icon.

Anyway, here's one that I hope comes through to you.  This is an IE window overlapping an Edge window.

Actually, it works fine ... IF transparency is what you want, but I don't.

Incidentally (to waste your time some more) it turns out that I couldn't use the snipping tool to take a screenshot because the window only becomes transparent when pressing or moving it. Turns out that adding a delay of a few seconds to the snipping tool allowed me to rush over and press one of the windows. Anyway, hope that's helpful, for what it's worth.  Thanks, -Jeff

Hello,

I am asuming you are on windows 10? If so what version you are on? And on the titlebar I saw something on the middle of it (with nvidia logo in the middle?). What app is that?

1) Could you disable that app, and see if the problem goes away. if not please continue to step 2 below.

2) Could you try to disable all stardock apps you have in your pc and see if the problem goes away. If it does goes away. Than re-enable those apps one at a time to see which one is the problem.

Please try that and report back.

Thank you,

Hello Jeff,

I want to try purging WFX as I think something with it is not working if you shut it off and still get that.  I can kind of reproduce what you are seeing with WinFX by setting some options to do it:
