Thanks for the response.

I checked those settings and they were all as pictured already.

But I still get the 2 popups upon startup.

You clicked on " Yes" and it still comes back every boot up ?

Try this , Please Purge Fences , Reboot and reinstall then reboot and see if fixed now.

and the above check marks are enabled .

Just did the Purge, reboot, installed Fences 3.08, rebooted.

Checked the settings, they are the same as before.

Still getting the same 2 popups upon startup.

Any other suggestions?

Are you running Fences as Admin?

I would like to suggest to check your Windows system files using SFC /scannow command. You can try the steps listed here : https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-use-sfc-scannow-to-repair-windows-system-files-2626161

Thank you,

This is getting ridiculous.  This is a brand new laptop and that message only pops up when I have Fences installed.  When I uninstall Fences, that message is gone.  I'm not going to scan my entire computer to fix a Fences issue.

This seems to be an issue with Windows 10 and Fences 3.08 and has stemmed back several years ever since Windows 10 was available according to other forums.

I had Fences 3.08 running on my old laptop with Windows 7 and it was perfect.

As of now, I've uninstalled Fences since I can't stand those 2 popup messages.  Please let me know when an actual fix is available.

No, not the issue you are presenting.  The only time I have ever seen UAC prompt, for when Fences is of a concern, is if Fences is being run as Admin.

If it helps with any other apps you are running (perhaps a Windows Explorer replacement), Fence runs in the Windows Explorer process.

The only next recommendation I would be able to offer, and it's just a test, would be to try a clean boot:

https://forums.stardock.com/486084/fences-support-faq#cleanboot

This will help eliminate any other app or service from being a contributor.

I have also done all the suggested 'fixes' without success.

sfc - all good

fences reset - done

appdata delete files - done

etc

Still have 2 popups EVERY restart/startup.

Hi there Sean, no, not running as admin.

I've tried all the solutions here, none change the 2 host popups related to Fences.

I had this with v2 also and thought upgrading to v3 would fix it.

There is nothing known that would cause what you are seeing.  A clean boot should be considered to determine if it is a setting or 3rd party app:

So I reinstalled it and still get the 2 pop ups.  I went into the details of one of the popups and it shows this:

Is it possible the popups are due to the certification expiration date?

I dont know how that was missed.  Please uninstall that version and install the latest, 3.09, from your account page:

I uninstalled whatever version I had and re-installed the latest software from my account.

Same 2 messages occur with the same expiration dates.

Want any other screenshots?

That cert it not for Fences:

it would appear to be for the rundl32l.dll.

When is the last time you did a Windows update for this PC?

Is this in a corp environment?  What AV product are you using - would it be WebSense or ForcePoint?

Hi again Sean, I decided to uninstall Fences completely and go back a few versions, where things worked just fine.

So, I installed my trusty old Fences Pro, system restarts, windows loads with no issues whatsoever. Fences Pro does not set off any UAC prompts (on MY system}.

I then did a few restarts, a shutdown and then boot up... no issues at all (I try to be thorough).

I then uninstalled Fences Pro, restarted, and installed Fences 2.13 and activated it, then restarted... back came the UAC prompt (yes just one this time).

I noticed that Pro installed to Prog files as default, but 2.13 and I assume 3 install to Prog files(x86) BUT I overrode the installation of 2.13 and put it in the 64 bit folder just to see what would happen. At least I got it down to one UAC prompt eh? Lol.

I'll continue to play about and if I get any success I'll post here.

Thanks for your time, it is appreciated.

Barry.

any solutions to this issue? im having the EXACT SAME issue as the OP .. including the same pop ups

did the purge/reinstall (3 times) 2 windows system file scans (0 errors both times) and the clean boot (issue still happens)

i was trying stuff and after disabling  the normal fences start up i used a scheduled task (setting fences.exe as highest privilege) to trigger at log on (delay 30 secs) to try and bypass UAC .. instead of 2 popups i had only 1.. but still having that UAC warning.

any solution? this issue started like 3 weeks ago and AFAIR i didnt do any changes (unless installing Destiny 2 upsets fences) to the PC
