Yet another product key issue. Sorry!

I'm sorry, but here is yet another product key issue... I bought Fences through Steam around end of July last year, but didn't initialize it until today. My problem is that Fences asks for a product key upon launch. Yet, as far I've gathered from the internet, no product key should be required when launching Fences through Steam.
So far, I've tried the "Lookup product key" (https://www.stardock.com/support/product-key-retrieval) using my Steam associated email. It gives me an "account lookup failure". I've also tried to do as the support FAQ (https://forums.stardock.com/486084/Fences-Support-FAQ#reinstalling) suggests. ( Logged into Steam. No other versions on my computer. Run sassteam.exe. Uninstall and re-install Fences, yet as it specifies, only through Steam).
I'm currently on the tiral version, and would appreciate it if a solution can be found before the trial period is over.
And to everyone else here, I'm sorry you get another irrelevant topic in the forum, but this is the only way to get help it seems.
