adjusting individual fence sizes

I'm having difficulties making finite adjustments to my individual fence sizes. When adjusting the fence in certain directions it'll "snap" to a larger/smaller size than I'm trying to set it at. Any suggestions?

Hold down the Shift key while resizing.
