Alternative dream websites?

Not that I know of. Maybe someone else does.

What I do know is this. If you are not a member of Wincustomize your downloads are limited each day. Not sure of the limit but think it use to be 2 downloads a day.

Join for a year and you receive unlimited downloads.

Well I bought DeskScapes from Humble for cheap, so I guess I will spend that extra money a the sub then=Z

if you login to Wincustomize using the same account as the one you used for activating Deskscapes I think the limit may not exist (or be more)

there is an oldschool hack unsure if it still works with windows 10 though and theres a site dedicated for dream alternitives.they are of a wmv and avi format usually

since it would take away from stardocks revenue tho i refuse to tell you where this is.

the smarter bet is just to cough up the 50 for the object desktop package whitch contains all the best addons from stardock for the yr and it includes unlimited access to wincustomize as well

then to renew its only 30 a yr after that.

mine just expired but ill be renewing mine again soon.honestly its the easiest,you get better theme quality and a whole lot more

I discovered the download limit on WinCustomize today.

It seems you are allowed a free registered account (as opposed to an anonymous guest) if you recently purchased a Stardock product, even through the Humble Bundle. I just registered and I didn't think it was entirely obvious, thinking if I owned a Stardock product, it would auto-generate a user account. I registered through WinCustomize using my Stardock account info, confirmed via email and THEN received a notice that I was now registered on all Stardock websites.

So now as a registered free user, it no longer looks like I have a download limit, BUT.... my download speed is much, much slower. I randomly picked a 93 MB background and it is taking me about 35 minutes to download, when ordinarily it should take less than a minute (really, about 10-15 seconds). I'm not complaining, free is free and we get what we pay for.

I also searched and found a few other websites that have free Dream desktop galleries and so far they look like they kind of suck. I haven't browsed too much, but right off the bat the desktop images they feature are edge-to-edge busy, with lots of colors and things happening. For me, busy backgrounds are distracting, headache inducing and icon obscuring. I'm going to go take a look at some websites that are more oriented to art and design and see what, if anything, they offer there.

If you already have a Stardock account, you do not need to register on WinCustomize. It is all the same login across all Stardock sites.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I totally agree accounts97. It is not that obvious, but I am glad it works. Also I don't like busy backgrounds either.
