Start10 Color Settings Don't Work

[EDIT: Versions updated to my current config]

I have Start10 (v1.55) set to "Use automatic accent color for texture color". I have the same texture selected for the menu and the taskbar. But when the background wallpaper changes, the accent color for the taskbar and menu don't change with the wallpaper color. Unless I go into Start10 Configuration > Style > Settings > and select "Reset to automatic color" -- then both the menu and taskbar change to the appropriate accent color. Also, if I restart the PC, the color will usually change to the proper accent shade.

I am using the "Windows 7 style" and the "Default Theme" (square edges). Win 10 Pro 1703.

Thanks for any advice.

First thing to try.  If you install the Start10 1.52 beta does it continue to be a problem as I know there was a change for taskbar colour handling at least.

Thanks for the reply. No, the 1.52 beta hasn't changed the issue. The menu and taskbar will only change to an accent color when I go to Configuration > Style > Settings Pull-Down menu > "Reset to automatic color".

Why does "reset to automatic color" work, but then Start10 "forgets" this?

Start10 doesn't forget it.  Changing any setting in the Start10 config would most likely fix that as it makes Start10 reload the settings including looking up the new colour.

I suspect the problem is Start10 is not being told the colour has been changed.  A test here is showing everything working just fine though so there must be another factor involved.

How are you changing wallpapers exactly?

I'm using a program called "John's Background Switcher." It has the ability to grab wallpaper from online, but I do not use that feature. I have a folder in My Pictures folder that has a couple thousand 2560x1440 backgrounds, so I just have John's Background Switcher only pointed to that local folder and the time set to change the background once every 6 hours.

I've always had this particular problem with Start10 and accent colors, from the Win10 RTM to this latest 1607 version.

I will try uninstalling John's Background Switcher and see if the problem is solved. (Assuming I can get the BGs switched without that application to see if the accent colors change with them.)

After completely uninstalling the 3rd party wallpaper switcher, and having Windows change the wallpaper every hour, I am still having the same issue. When Start10 is set to "Use automatic taskbar accent color for texture color" (in Desktop > Settings) and "Use automatic accent color for texture color" (in Style > Appearance > Settings) and no matter what texture I choose, only occasionally does the taskbar change color automatically to the new accent color, and rarely do the colors from the taskbar match the menu.

When I go into either "Desktop > Settings" or "Style > Settings" and select "Reset to automatic color" then everything suddenly works as intended... until the next wallpaper/accent color comes around each hour. But "automatically" is not the way Start10 changes accent color for me most of the time, nor is the menu color changing with the taskbar in almost all cases of an accent color switch.

I have both the taskbar and the menu using the same texture, and same level of transparency. It works great when I click "Reset to automatic color," both the taskbar and the menu look fantastic. But clearly, some information about the accent color is not being shared with Start10 -- even when only Windows itself is changing the background and selecting the accent color. I would assume that this feature was tested thoroughly at Stardock, so I'm still stumped as to why it isn't working for me automatically.

Windows 10 Pro (1607)

Stardock ObjectDock, Start10 (I have uninstalled all other Stardock applications in an effort to troubleshoot this problem. Same for any other application that might alter the appearance of Windows or the wallpaper.)

Thanks for any assistance in getting Start10 to automatically acknowledge an accent color change.

This problem hasn't gone away for me. Am I the ONLY person using Start10 and sets it to "Use automatic accent color"? Or am I the only one whose Start10 is ignoring a change in the accent color?

And assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Seriously, I'm asking for real -- I'm I the only person to have Start10 behave this way (consistently, across Windows updates and Start10 updates)?

Does Stardock Tech Support or Customer Service read these posts? I have wiped my C: drive and reinstalled Win 10 Pro bare metal and have installed nothing that alters the look or UI behavior except the latest version of Start10. Yet this problem still persists for me.

Thanks

What happens if you use the Windows 10 background shuffle feature?

That is what I'm using now. Windows Settings > Personalization > Background with Slideshow and Shuffle selected, and under Personalization > Colors I have "Automatically pick an accent color from my background" selected.

I'm avoiding any 3rd party apps that change the background or UI color because Neil Banfield, in a post above, said that Start10 doesn't forget the color settings, so the application changing them must be responsible for not passing the proper info on to Start10. Well, that would be the Windows 10 built-in Personalization "app" in this case so I am at a loss as to why this works fine with, apparently, everyone else using Start10 who also uses automatic color change with background change.

Going to Configure Start10 > Settings > Reset to automatic color is always a big change from what I'm seeing normally. And it's always better, of course, being coordinated with the background and forcing consistency across all the other UI elements normally affected by the "Automatically pick an accent color from my background" setting.

Any info on when this bug will be fixed?

Thanks!

So it's been quite a while since I last posted about this BUG, and the whole time it has yet to be fixed. Does anyone even know what I'm referring to? I can copy/paste the first post in this ticket again if anyone wants me to. The only differences are the version numbers: Start10: v.1.56, and Windows 10 1709.

This BUG has been doing what it has always been doing since I first asked for assistence in Sep 2016. Updates to Start10 have done nothing to fix it. Same with updates to Windows 10. Same with using various methods to automaticaly change the background (Windows 10 built-in method, and several different 3rd-party methods -- all the same BUG.)

Thank you for any help in getting it to work as intended.
