Win 10: slow boot & no desktop icons on startup

Hello.
I have a problem with fences 2 and 3 on Windows 10 fresh install.
Fences are loaded 5-10-15 seconds after desktop is shown during startup.
Another problem is that icons which are on the desktop but not in fences also are not shown before fences would load.

Thank you very much for your help.

I too would be interested in a solution because I'm facing the very same slowness during startup or better: right after my logon into Win10.

I saw this answer coming 8C .

Nevertheless, thanks for your reply.

I've uninstalled Fences (2.x) from all of my Win10 desktops now because it slows down my desktops too much.

Can someone elaborate about this issue? I have the same problem in here.

Ver. 3.0.1

I have the same issue - slow boot with Fences in Win 10 - also happened with Win 7.

Public sites say just don't use fences, but seems like this is a fixable problem.

Hello,

I currently have trail version of the software. I am considering its purchase, but I have this problem as well. When I don't use Fences windows starts up very fast, when I use Fences there is a very noticeable delay in startup.

I would like to find out if this is something that is being worked on or not.

You could try adding the following registry setting:

Below "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Serialize" create a new DWord named "StartupDelayInMSec" with a value of 0.

With that in place, Fences starts almost immediately after logging in on my Windows 10 Pro x64 machines.

Kind regards,

/Neil

Thank you for providing this fix.

I do hope however, that the developers will look into this issue as well. I understand that quite a few people have this same problem.

If you have not tried the 3.03 beta at https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products you probably should.

3.03 beta fresh install - no difference.

Still have time lag after login and before fencese loading.

Unbelievable...

If you are still having an issue, please make sure you have contacted support.  https://esupport.stardock.com/index.php?/default_import/Tickets/Submit

The standart support scheme looks like this:

1. Ticket

2. Answer: "Please, give us info output with this software"

3. Advice: "Please, make a fresh reinstall"

4. When nothing helps the answer is: "We have passed info to our development team. Please, wait."

Then new version coming out and the bug is still there.

Ok. If you want to torture your loyal users, that's ok.

We review all the data received and do our very best to fix the problems we can.

Oftentimes the issue is not with our software at all but we try to track it down.

Without fences windows loads way faster. With fences there definitely is a noticeable slowdown.

Maybe it is not an issue with the software, but that definitely is a possibility.

And why we are requesting data.  :)

Windows 10 has a Startup Delay for desktop apps same as win8.x
You can remove the delay and BAM everything will load much faster.
A Guide can be found here:

Only do this if you feel compftable changing stuff in regedit...!

Btw hello ZubaZ  ^_^
