ObjectDock & Windows 10
Is there any word when ObjectDock and Windows 10 will be compatible?
Is there any word when ObjectDock and Windows 10 will be compatible?
And Stardoock sent out an identical email inviting purchase of ObjectDock on 04 May 2017, and before that on 01 March 2017 and 11 January 2017 and 11 November 2016 and ...
Please, please stop sending these marketing emails without mentioning in them that ObjectDock isn't supported for WIndow 10.
A lot of people are using ObjectDock with Win 10. They report it does work with small glitches. You can always click the unsubscribe link at the bottom.
Thank you for the feedback. We'll take a look at the mailers that are going out.
Unfortunately this registry hack doesn't work.. (I've had SuperFetch disabled since installing (SSD-950Evo) and further disabling Prefetch didn't help the "empty" explorer items)
Really wish this would be fixed as I don't use the in-built taskbar (disabled entirely) so two docks make up my entire desktop experience.
Object Dock 2.20 running Wonderfull with Windows 10 insider 16257.
WindowBlinds 10.6.2 Running not good i wait for Update.
Object Doc was running well with no obvious problems. I built a new computer and re-installed Windows 10 Fall Creators Update. The program still works, although the blank icon regularly appears and the weather docklet does not recognize any Canadian locations (and won't actually show weather for US locations). I certainly hope Win10 support is forthcoming.
Unfortunately I don't think ObjectDock will be updated. The person that created it is no longer with Stardock. So as I read it's just a legacy app.
As for marcsenn the latest version of WindowBlinds is 10.65.
Damn, wish I had found this thread earlier, wasted money on a 'broken/nil development' product. Good business model you folks have, obviously learned it from the Chinese - "Sell it to the masses and don't worry if it doesn't work as they have no recourse".
Thanks for nothing barstiches
There is a clear mention that system requirements : Windows 8 / 7

@basj,talking web page design and content management for a mement, not technicalities of the product ...
I agree that there is a "mention" that Windows 8 / 7 are supported, but that's right down at the bottom of the page, and could be easily overlooked by anybody who is so impressed by the blurb earlier on in the page extolling its glories that they forget to scroll down to the very bottom of the page.
IMHO, while this might be classed by some as a "clear mention" by some I suspect that many wouldn't regard it as such. And particularly so because of the unfortunate choice of font size:
System Requirements
Windows 8 / 7
Really, since Windows 10 has been out for several years now, it would be reasonable for many people (missing the above mention) to incorrectly assume that this product works under Windows 10.
My advice to Stardock is to add a clear mention that Windows 10 is not supported by the product, simple to do and it should prevent some further luster being taken away from your company. (Also check your other products for the same issue.)

Exactly as per the above, simple caveat saying that it is NOT Windoze 10 supported would stop a lot of 'false' sales. Check the 'net (Google is your friend) and see how many people have fallen into the 'trap' of paying for Objectdock when it DOES NOT WORK well with Win10.
But then again, it is all about the 'company' ethos "take their money in any case". It's all about the might $$$ and profit margin, not quality product/s.
FYI, have mentioned this on 7 other forums that I am a member of and to date have received 6 'Thank you's' for saving other people some money, just hope it goes viral and then watch Stardock 'crash'. Hehehehehehehehe.
Cheers
I hope you're not relying on that.
Reality is the product works quite well on the Windows versions for which it was designed, and MANY users have found it also works quite well even on Windows versions for which it was NOT designed, Windows versions that did not even exist at the time of the program's genesis.
It's on 3 or 4 of my Win 10 systems quite happily, however any and ALL Shell/GUI enhancements MUST be used on the OS for which it is documented to suit in 'System Requirements'. Others willing to experiment are fine to do so, as most GUI skinners normally are.
Perhaps one day when Microsoft actually settles on what Windows 10 is 'supposed to be' then maybe such GUI enhancements as Docks etc can be made to function with confidence.
Let's be abundantly clear. Windows 10 is a constant Beta. Any program which alters without user option/input is thus in a state of uncontrolled and unsolicited flux and therefore is a beta program ie unfinished.
You're not wrong there about Windows 10 being in a permament state of change! The same goes for for Office and other Microsoft products keep changing all the time, and some of those changes seem to be at the whim of marketing planners for cosmetic purposes with marginal improvment or even decrease in function and usability.
It's all becoming overcomplex, they're building a house of cards on top of a house of cards, and I'm surprised it works at all. Mind you, the same could be said about Android (and other Google products) and lots of other software offerings.
That's my point, it DOES NOT work well on Windoze 10 and NOWHERE do you document this on the purchase page..... false advertising?
Cheers
So, where did you go to learn to backpeddle so fast? Completely different (180degree turnaround) from your other post where you say that Stardock should show that OD does NOT work well with Win10. Yet in the post above you seem to kiss....... something... so as not to upset the 'management'. Way to go to show your resolve......
Cheers
Just to make it clear to everybody, I am just an ordinary Stardock paying customer, and NOT a Stardock employee. My comments are from the heart, and don't follow any company culture or policy. ... So there! ![]()
How I finished up with the moniker "stardock15" I am unsure, but have a vague recollection that it was generated automatically. I have searched fro a way to change it to my normal moniker "NotesTracker" or my real name (Tony Austin, from Melbourne, Australia) but this forum doesn't seem flexible enough to enable such a change.
Reply #34 and Reply #35 have clearly stated where it is,why you kept antagonizing the issue when it shouldn't?? That's very immature.
And do not blame your oversight onto the seller,it's a common knowledge that you read before you install/buy.
System Requirements ARE noted.
Not only does it not say "It doesn't work [well] on Win 10" it ALSO doesn't say "It doesn't work [at all] on a Mac."
What it DOES say is re System Requirements, just as it SHOULD say [albeit bigger to appease those who only wish to troll].
If you are requesting a refund due to your inability to check system requirements kindly contact sales@Stardock.com and they can consider your request.
Other than that, this thread is closed.
