Me too,Stark23x.I have just posted my issue. It's the same as yours.Be sure to set some System restore dates for fall-back safety.Things seem a bit unstable at the moment. Many have stopped updating and will wait for the final release. After todays failure I am thinking about joining them.

I have problems too. How do you stop the auto update?
I grabbed it through Component Manager, and it works like a charm for me.

Well I guess if you call wiping out my entire library "a charm" ,then I guess it worked for me.?By kooking at the About link in WB ,I have no idea what version I have. But I can tell you by using the Componet Manager to update my WB I lost all of my skins.

I would also like to know how to stop auto update.SDCentral updated this afternoon and acted a little crazy (3 times it told me to restart my computer)
/me is starting to miss Component Manager.

brazil - I also updated through component manager and, like you "lost" all of my skins. WB is now located in the Stardock folder in program files. Take a look in the Object desktop folder - windowblinds - and you'll find all of your skins. Just copy them to the new WB skins folder and you'll be good to go.

here is a screenshot of my applications.... you can see windowblinds twice on it. Neither will install. Also, for a time neither Winbrowser nor SC would open at all until I did a sys restore (earlier today I put on PSP beta latest).

goodmorphing:I am sorry to hear about your trouble. My WinBrowser and SDC opened ok but some things are acting weird.Did you use Component Manager to update WB?I use System Restore but it always freaks something out,,I love it and hate it at the same time.

Well, I am just going to leave windowblinds updatable for now. Windowblinds tells me that my current version is 4.0 beta 5, which is higher already than what SC shows. For some reason I can't open component manager unless I unload windowblinds..... I am just not going to touch anything for now....

/me plans on keepin on keepin on thinking they will fix whatever it is, then will click update buttons again.....

when SDC asks if you want to restart it only means SDC app., not your computer. I had problems with upgrade, failed, could not open file, etc. If I refresh apps.data under tools it installs and seems to work fine....

yrag:I have seen both.Once when it said to "restart SDC" I clicked yes and it rebooted my computer. The refresh option sounds interesting but I,for now, want no more trouble. Thanks for your input though,I hope it helps someone.

I think the full install (096?) was a reboot, but I do agree that some of the updates are doing some wacky things...now I'm getting rips when I close a window. I think maybe the the WB update freaked out FX. Who knows..

Oh yes,,I haven't been able to use FX ever.It drops all window content on refresh.I have a ton of RAM and Nvidia.FX should work for me,,but it doesn't.I guess I am starting to miss the simpler days.

I have the same options and FX did worked. I'm going to unload Fx completely and see if that's where the problem is ....and yes, things seemed to be simpler not so long ago

Indeed,,The programs from Stardock I can use, with confidence,is getting smaller.I could go into details but it would take far to much typing. One step forward, four steps back.Very disappointing.

I try to keep everything in perspective...I think for the most part Stardock software is pretty amazing. I can remember, not so long ago, when Win95,98 and Me bluescreened me every 10 minutes. I think when the alphas and betas are out of the way all will be well.

I think there was a short period of time when I would have agreed with you but when Stardock can not even deliver WindowsBlinds, their bread and butter, one has to wonder, never mind everything else.

If we hadn't installed all the betas I'm sure we wouldn't be having these problems, but on the other side of the coin, if we hadn't I don't think they'd ever weed out all the bugs...damned if do, damned if you don't.

Indeed,WE are at fault. We are to blame.I have also installed other programs, released, that totally crashed my system. So it really is not a alpha beta issue.Too many irons in the fire if you ask me.

Look at FX for instance,Is it still in development? It certainly does not work for me.And by the look of the FX choices at WC it's not working very well for anyone.Maybe we could edit the registry or re-install single DLL files that were forgotten in other failed updated programs.Sorry yarg,I'm losing faith.

Have heart..I played with FX and it works fine, however DesktopX seems to be the culprit. Desktop icons go nuts for some reason. I'll play with that for a while and see if I can really screw up my machine. Think how boring this would be if everything worked

I wish I could run DX.I used to really like it.I installed some version of Winstyles just for fun and that wacked DX,Winstyles and any kind of regular reboot. The computer would halfway load then freeze, even the Task Manager. So I put those programs in the LiteSTEP/FX catagory. Thus lightening even further my ObjectDesktop options and load. Now with my new computer even the programs that are left that I can use are being delivered corrupt. What did you "play with" in FX to get it to work "Fine"? Just curious,,,
