Windows Blinds and Firefox

I just got the entire Object Desktop Suite based upon how much I liked Fences, but it seems like virtually every program other than Fences messes up my computer.  After one of the other messed up all my icons despite my using Fences . . . I uninstalled (that fixed it) and tried Windows Blinds.  Now, if I try to open Firefox, all I see is a medium sized white rectangle.  If I right click on it I get menus . . . but have no idea what I'm clicking on.  Shortly thereafter, Firefox crashes.  Reboots do nothing.  What gives?  Are all the programs in the suite buggy?  If so, I want my money back.  This is kinda ridiculous.  I'm running Windows 7 and have the newest version of Object Desktop.

My advice is this (from personal experience):

If you are running Windows 7 install Windowblinds 7

If you are running Windows 8.x install Windowblinds 8

If you are running Windows 10 install Windowblinds 10

Windowblinds 7 is very stable for me. It's the best version in my opinion.

This is very poor advice.

For released versions use WB8 on 7/8/8.1

If you wish to use betas use WB10 on 7/8/8.1/10

Regarding the issue, it sounds like there is some sort of conflict as I have just checked here and Firefox looks fine.  What video driver do you have and what version of Firefox is it?

Maybe it is silly to argue with the dev, but in my experience Windowblinds 7 is the best. You can add texture to titlebar, taskbar and startmenu, but keep the original look of the OS. This is not possible with Windows 8.x and Windowblinds 8. This is possible because Stardock created Aero Colors, Aero Clay and Aero Metals themes that ship with Windowblinds 7. If you put texture on these you get original MS look with texture.

Also Windowblinds 7 has a superior UI that fits with Windows 7 (but that is of course a matter of taste). However it is rock solid.

You can add texture to the titlebar, taskbar and startmenu with WB8 on Win7 or WB10 on Win7.  The feature is not provided on Windows 8 or 10 but it remains on Windows 7.

But how do I get version 7?  I just bought the suite.  So I have the newest version.

Thanks, good to know that WB 8 and 10 don't drop functionality compared to WB 7 on Windows 7. I opened WB 7 and played around. It was a long time since I did this before and now I don't remember how to save a theme. How do you save modifications in WB7? I tried Google, but haven't found the answer yet.

It is sad you cannot use texture with original MS look on Windows 8/10. It's a top feature, just spice up the OS a little bit without going for a completely new skin.

If you install Object Desktop Manager it's there, isn't it?

No.  Just version 8.13.  I downloaded version 10 from the site as a beta but I'm hesitant to install it.  Probably worth a try anyway.

Firefox 43.0.1.  I just updated to 43.0.2 after your last post but had to uninstall in order to see Firefox.  I don't know what video driver.  But its a higher end Dell, so nothing exotic or especially out of date.

Maybe it's like Neil says and WB8 is as good or better than WB7. It's easier to save presets in WB8 so maybe I will upgrade. Don't bother with WB7 since maybe it's not supported anymore.

Your problem might be Firefox. Go to (Menubar)>Help>Restart with Add-ons disabled.

Some people have a ton of Firefox extensions. Make sure Firefox uses default theme.

Chrome is not my favorite browser... Firefox should work if you have no add-ons/extensions and default theme. Otherwise open a support ticket with Stardock.
