Hey. some stuff about beta 7.

 

new little graphs are AWESOME.

Black market UI feels a bit small in the corner. but might just be me.

All patent auctions seem to say they win superconductor, and I cant figure out how to stop autosell of power.

 shift/alt clicking on buildings to ship out/in resources seems to not be working.

In the patent screen, the "owned by <player>" is very faint and hard to notice if you happen to be the blue color. The button to research these doesnt grey out or otherwise say "nopo" in some graphical way otherwise? hard to know if you can click the button or not. Or know even which buttons you already clicked.

And best of all:

If you concede right after founding during the daily challenge, you get a really really high score!  :D

you can try to turn off/on power buildings to stop selling it, but yea...

Stock ticker info stays popped up after mousing over
I'd like an auto-sell switch in the production menu that auto-sells everything of specific resources until switched off again.
The font in many places is so big and the space in rows so little in some places that it takes 2 rows to show 100 / 100 water in the offworld launching overview, for example.
Cant stop auto selling power, the button isn't there like it was in old UI.
Mouseover info for structures in the left hand resource overview remains even after you stop mousing over.
There are no breakdowns anymore of what consumes or produces which resource, how much and many of each unit and structure are interacing with that resource, as there used to be.
There are no post-game statistics.
Adrenaline Boost should speed up the construction and offworld launching animations.

Cant kick people from lobbies anymore.
Auctions can be on the bm in 1v1 again, because auctioning neutral tile auctions make sense in 1v1 whereas auctions didn't make sense while they couldn't auction neutral tiles

Personally one of my biggest hopes is that bm auctions return to 1v1 now that they can target neutral tiles.

and of course there are a lot of rough edges but they're visibly getting ironed out.

Oh, I have some comments on the new UI. Just aesthetically, my friends and I are more fans of the old UI, but there are some ways in which the new one is lacking in function as well.

There is no way to share individual resources (with a team) during a match. And if you enable the option (before game of course, because you can't change options mid match) to share all resources, there is a weird "font" label that takes up most of the inventory number column.

There's no way to view an event log anymore! When something is hit with a BM item, I should be able to find out what it was, no matter what player it happened too. Right now, I get a sound, but have to scan around the map to see who got hit.

Maybe it's just me, but I haven't been able to observe matches anymore after dying.

More things about the daily challenge:

 

1. it seems to be real time and not in-game time?

2. saving and exiting also works to get super high scores.  I got 3 seconds! wooo!

3. you dont be able to concede before founding. interesting?

 

 

and the campaign is preety fubar. cant buy stocks. I am sure you guys already figured that out.

Is the Majority Buyout gone for good? It's not in the new beta 7. Which is a minor issue (or not an issue at all, if you ask me!), since the game doesn't even start. It crashes every time with supposedly ntdll.dll being the faulty module. Beta 6 works fine and so did beta 7 prior to today's update. Here's the logs folder, but I have a feeling it's going to be utterly useless. Please let me know what additional information/files I can provide.

as of the current next_version, the game permanently pauses (without showing any pausing indication except that the game stops progressing, doesn't allow me to open any menu or do anything) on the daily challenge at 11:50 of day 2 every single time.

I'm having issues on todays Daily, beta 7.  Lagg on auctions, claiming etc.  I didn;t get past the day 1 auction, I had to turn it off.

 

The new UI is dreadful imo, big step backwards.  The font (particularity the 0 with the dot in it) is very difficult to read/process, before it was very easy to distinguish prices, now it is difficult, you could say it will take time to get use to, but the whole package is wrong. My son dislikes the UI too, says the "texture is wrong", imo before it was sharp and defined now it is embossed and slightly confusing, it's cartoonish and confusing.   The number of resources column is too fat and the + & - for buying and selling are the wrong way round, + on the left please.  Pricing rows seem to ripple when moused over.  The stock prices and graph (like the graph - good job) the dimension ratio seems wrong, it is also difficult to quickly asses the prices as the font is unclear to me and strangely sized.

Advanced building buttons are too large for my liking and over done, I had trouble interpreting when I had enough cash/ resources to build one.  I do like the UI for offworld pricing, please make this thinner.  There seems to be a bug when you shift click sends, cannot cancel or create new shift clicks.  Also mutiny events do not show any info.  Auction boxes - the flaws are numerous and obvious.

The sharpening of some terrain features is good, however the general land texture seems to worse.

Imo this UI is a step backwards, I (and many others) liked the old UI, sure some things could be improved, but this implementation has had a negative effect on my enjoyment of the game, potentially game breaking.

I agree that the new UI just looks like an eyesore in many places, or words to that effect. The new patent icons are very welcome though. I think that many of the graphics are just placeholders right now but in case they are not I want to say that they need work like on the post game statistics, many colors there just dont fit together. I'd also like the black market icons to be actual icons or at least capital letters in the same size font. It's very confusing to have a massive M for mules and relatively miniature CB or NV, that looks and feels unnatural.

Our goal with the new UI is to get it in and then improve it. There is still temp art in many areas (black market letter icons and their ghetto in the bottom right being a prime example) but that is in no way how we foresee the game when it is complete. I expect the black market items to have the same graphic design as the ones that already have icons for them.

Thank you for everyone's honest and complete feedback, but please have patience with the graphic design. Our goal for beta 7 is that the main game can be played competitively and in all modes with the new UI. It's not going to be polished, it's not going to be finished visually, but it's going to be as complete as the previous version. All feedback is welcome, but functionality feedback is of the highest importance and will be soonest addressed. Once we get the functionality where we need it, we can work on improving the look and feel to a polished level that we hope will blow away the previous version.

As of 9/25/2015 build, the Hacker array's UI seems to be not quite right.  the little arrow starts immediately, and then a few seconds later it says "carbon surplus starting" when I did a carbon short. and so forth.   I feel like those tooltips should be reversed... Carbon short started... and then the green arrow later.

 

Also, I would really like the ability to jump to black market actions again. Without the log, I hear the sound, and have to go searching to check "was that an EMP, or an AB that I have to go emp"  and such.  maybe its just not done yet on this count.

 

Also, when exactly does the daily roll over?

I was unable to play today's daily challenge; the win screen pops up every time I click for my first scan. Scan mode in regular skirmishes is fine.
