Lame question (sorry)

How does one change the colour of the icon text in W2K? I've done it once and can't remember how to do it again. (D'oh!)
Cheers, folks.

Changing the background color of your desktop I think will change the color of the icon text.

without window blinds running, I think you can do the following

"start"-"run"-enter-"themes" and the theme edit will load, change it in there..

with window blinds running, guess youd have to do it in skinstudio, or windowblinds itself...

though your not supposed to be able to change it to anything but white or black. there are applications that can and do change it so thats a load of bunk I would think... if an app can do it, it is just figuring out where it is making that change...

let me know if that works or not and if not, I'll pull out my technet cd's and run through those, there should be something in there...

With WB and IconPackager, IPlural, but even without IP I can't seem to change the text.
All I want to do is change from white to black, not fancy dan colours.
I've literally just thought of trying skin studio, myself, so great minds think alike (or fools seldom differ)
Thanks for your efforts, they are most appreciated.

oh hell, did you happen to change the background color to a really light color, off white, or even white?

it should automatically change it to black...

ALso, take a look at this, took me a bit to find it, it's an older freeware app
that really helps with 98 - 2000 and the desktop text problems...
:
Transparent 4.2
What is it?

This utility will turn your Windows 9x or NT desktop icon text backgrounds transparent; allowing your wallpaper to show through. It will also allow you to easily change the icon text to any color. It's completely free, with no splash, and is only 25k.

that program *will* do what you want and much more, very good app, I just haven't seen it in a long time and they moved the site so I have to hunt it down.

That looks great, Iplural, thanks. I'll try it when I get home and let you know how I got on.
(I have tried changing the background, back and forth but it just doesn't want to know)

that app will do the job and then some, really handy and I mis-spoke earlier, it runs on 95 - 2000 and fixes all the negatives with the desktop icons pretty much..

luck
