tracking resources?

Can any of you out there recommend a program that can do scheduling and tracking of resources? I know that MS Project does that, but my sis is looking for something cheaper (possibly free- or shareware). Any suggestions??? TIA!

Do a web search on " resource tracking " Copernic returned something like 300 hits...
