I bought my software from Stardock many years ago to use on my XP computers, which I still own and run 2 of, I have other PC's that run windoze 7 Ultimate on, again 2, I don't require the Stardock programs on there as they have a decent range of suite colours that don't require Windowblinds or icons from IconFX.

I used to renew Object Desktop, even had the Ultimate upgrade as it made sense to purchase that rather than odd programs, I probably lost out a little, but could try other programs in the suite. I always downloaded all and then archived them to ensure If I did need to reformat or re-install they were available, of course back then, it was My Colours, and Impulse and then Stardock Central ..... well, that was great until I wished to re-install, to be met with, oh, we sold that off ... Impulse ... use Stardock Central ..... I was unable to do so, it kept giving me mycolours2.exe on clicking the download links, I started a thread ....

https://forums.stardock.com/456559/page/1/#3493143

A month after basically no help, they assisted another person with the same issue, yet, no help for myself!

I have tried again after Windowblinds failed, this week I have had to purchase a subscription to be able to install programs I already paid for, why? so Stardock could generate money from the sale of Impulse and with it seems Stardock Central no longer working either, neither program recognise my passwords which I recall well, I even changed the one here to ensure Stardock Central worked. I can see a list of available programs I already paid for, and it offers mycolours2.exe when you attempted to download. That's pretty poor going for programs your customers paid for, and followed advice on ensuring archiving to retrieve and re-install.

I intend hopefully in the near future to install new drives in the XP PC and do a XP Pro fresh install, yet want some of the programs I installed through Impulse, I had started to play with creating my own suites/themes with one of the software's in the packages yet after being forced to pay for a subscription I have no idea what works on XP (currently its Home version), your site is not easy to ascertain what is for what system at all. This extends to the downloading, it offers all, ie, there are win8 things in there, I know better than try. Is there a list of which software runs on which system, and the last version working on that windoze version?

You could make money you know, by selling older versions for older operating systems at discounted rates, many of us still use them. Windows 8, or even 8.1 isn't that great an os, and "10" seems to be following in that respect, designed for tablets and screen smearing, not PC's but rammed down the consumers gullets.

Fed up, brassed off and feeling ripped off down to inability to re-install paid for items.

Did you contact support via the link in the other post?
Did you receive an automated response with a ticket id? What was it?

You can find what OSs are supported at the very bottom of https://www.stardock.com/products/odnt/

If you look at when I posted my query in that thread, and when the other person was told to contact Stardock you will see why I never, I don't expect to wait over a month to be informed that, and even then, it wasn't me that was told but another user (I found it this week). I had got an official reply, from a person who posts frequently and is Stardock staff in here, despite me clearly saying trying to download from the same place gave a link that I specifically pointed out linked the download to another program, ie. mycolours. From that reply I concluded Stardock just didn't care, after all, their rep couldn't even read my post which clearly stated issues trying to download again.

I have only used the desktop programs on XP, my only use on Windoze 7 was Total Annhilation (that doesn't even appear here or on the Impulse Gamestop site you sold it to) So basically that was Impulse (merely a free downloader) and T.A. which was purchased.

On a side note, attempts to download from said place this week were met with the same mycolours.exe being offered in the majority of file instances.

The one huge thing wrong with xp was the colour schemes, the green anaemic, the blue tiresome after awhile and not a huge fan of silvery screens, the os itself was good although I think 7 better. My win 98 PC was also overhauled this week, running like a dream at 17 years old, I swapped the graphic card out for a better one just because I had one, there wasn't even much dust inside her. I prefer not to connect either to online for obvious reasons but they still see use, I bet there are a lot of folks who have them and use them still, xp if not 98.

Those operating systems, 98, XP, aren't very well supported(at all) by Microsoft and we only have very few apps that may run on XP(32bit).

MyColors is also no longer supported. For your game, you'll have to contact Gamestop.

The Stardock rep, or as we call him, Island Dog, said to contact support. Have you and if so, what is your ticket #?

Ok, it seems to not be very clear, lets try this and see if it helps at all.

Impulse was sold to GameStop several years ago.  You'll have to download their new client or check their site for info about previous non-Stardock game purchases.

Any available Stardock products can be downloaded from your Stardock account here.

Again, please look at the date

Now, we get a new poster

I am having the same problem!!! I go to http://download.stardock.com and try to download all my premium themes but all I'm getting also are links to MyColours_setup.exe.  Tried to execute the setup.exe to see if the themes will download to the theme manager/mycolors but ended up getting nothing.  All the links to the premium theme downloads just points to the re-installing of mycolors to the theme manager.  Stardock...you need to fix these links, we can't download our paid premium themes.

Look at that September date - a month or more later and I never knew until this week.

another individual posts, I still never knew

Look at that Date, 5 weeks after my original post, where was the request for me to contact Stardock?

If I didn't know about it, until this week, how could I?

Why didn't you read my post properly? I am well aware that MyColours is not supported, you still offered the download from the program links on my software download pages this week though.

I am also aware now that Impulse does not work, isn't it the case that it was also dropped by Gamestop? Attempts to use it their fail. You may like to know that Stardock Central doesn't work now also. The info on those three programs was in my opening post though, although not the Gamestop bit.

Just because Microsoft doesn't support it, it doesn't mean people don't use it. The previous company I worked for still use a windows 98 pc daily (medium sized business with fairly large turnover).

You ever try to get older programs to run on a newer OS? not much success with most before the 7s 'XP virtual offering', the compatibility on 7 often works, I recall none that worked from 98 to XP.

Finally, after purchasing this week, is there a point to getting a ticket now? A lot of the software was part of Object Desktop Ultimate with no download links to them, an inability to install through Impulse or Stardock Central, or indeed, if I decided in future to reinstall my OS which I normally do from time to time as they get bogged down with changes made (less likely now I don't use for day to day PC work). Both OS systems are just for a few program instances that won't transfer to 7 and run fine on the original OS, no internet required, neither system connected online anyway.

I just attempted once more to download my old software from my account link, current subscribed, all were met apart from the final three with -

Do you want to run or save MyColors_setup.exe (384kb) from stardock.cachefly.net

Gamestop attempts to get me to download a new app when utilising my original email for the Total Annihilation game. It failed to log me in over the weekend not recognising my previous account.

To be honest I am less bothered about that game, I purchased it from you when I moved to 7 Ultimate from XP Pro, I soon realised I didn't need most software from yourselves with windows 7, I think in the end it was Impulse and the game alone. I have btw all T.A including add on's for the XP system, the & PC I had it on now used only as a backup and for recording music (connected to Roland pre amp/fx for direct input guitar) and the game not played on there. This 7 Ultimate desktop has never had any of Stardocks products on.

I have no intention of using on 98 any Stardock products, or any 7 machine I own, my XP Pro laptop now used only for studio shooting by tethered capture of my camera's (laptop not replaced as two of my camera's use software that only works with XP, and yes, they are pro camera's not point and shoots, they offer with their sensor arrays something my Nikon D700 cannot). I have no intention of using the software on the laptop either for colour reasons.  A fair few reasons to have own and use my XP systems.

Stardock Central is not supported anymore, we now have Object Desktop Manager. I can refresh your Object Desktop entry on your account if you wish. Currently you are showing OD Ultimate.

You could have checked the forum for a response, ID's response could have applied to you as well, since he didn't name anyone.

I'm unsure of your end goal here, is it to use the latest software on your XP machine? I want to help you and get you taken care of, but right now it doesn't seem we can support the issues you're having. Unless I missed something, then please let me know.

I intend to use it on my XP Desktop

I wish to be able to reinstall it at will which I could have done before without subscription

I need to make a list of what I used on there before, no idea what is still supported. Most I think I have still, a little unsure, but I know I do intend to replace the HD's with larger sata not eide pata drives and reinstall the OS.

Almost all the programs I used from 2003/3 onwards on the PC I have original zip or .exe installers for and the correct serial numbers - I always keep these things just in case, Stardock products an exception due to the way they installed back then, but did archive, even after Impulse went by the way. I have my emails back to 98 also although did lose a few.

I have paid for object desktop monthly, the software ie, a fair few desktops I am unable to download again, they all have a serial number listed, I get that link to download mycolours.exe which is installed on the xp desktop (as is Impulse and Stardock central, neither connect). I tried to download on here and transfer, and on the XP machine also from account link.

The Object Desktop Ultimate I did a renew from this week using the link in my account.

Object Desktop Manager I am unsure if I have or not on there, I do know there is another software on it. I have the PC in my bedroom, no internet connection, I use for music and films at night, hooked up to a sound system. To connect the PC to internet I have to disconnect it all and bring the tower to the lounge, awkward but I do not need net in there. I am trying to do this without a connection where possible.

I did check for a response, no activity after a week? I stopped looking. You posted this morning here, the box below is checked to mail me if a reply comes, I got no mail. Ironically, the thread I linked to someone, I suspect perhaps a staff member, posted in today, it advised me, yet not back when I had posted the original  on replies.

Once more, I was totally oblivious to the posting by Island Dog until last weekend.

This thread came about because window blinds went awry, and had to be re installed as it was creating other issues on the PC, I have various archived versions of both 6 and 7, I was unable to install any version because of the installers!

You may wish to check that other thread, and advise that poster (if its needed) that the thread isn't an active one.

As Zubaz posted the sys reqs for our software, those are the 4 apps you can install on XP and get support on. Anything old, WindowBlinds 6 or 7, we don't support anymore.

If in the future you need support, please contact us here:

https://esupport.stardock.com/index.php?/Tickets/Submit

That way we have a ticket on it.

So, I needlessly paid for a subscription to re install a product that is incapable of being re-installed as you no longer allow access to re-install, ie, Impulse and Stardock Central, and of course the MyColors that gets offered for the software I can download, if the right files linked to the download.

The reinstall didn't require any support if the installers still worked!

Perhaps now you can see why the thread and hence the title, you have confirmed it.

End of quote

Did you download a new installer from https://store.stardock.com/login.aspx?ReturnUrl=/myaccount/products

I do not see a support case submitted using your registered email.

As it is unlikely that your issue will be able to be resolved via the forums I STRONGLY suggest that you submit a case so that the support team will be able to address your issues on a point by point basis with your account and purchase information in front of them.

Continuing to post in this thread (or others)is unlike to resolve the issue.
