Object Dock and my Task Bar

Every so often my Task Bar will come back even though Object Dock has sent it away. Anyone know why?

I have a trial of Object Bar going so I thought maybe somehow the nag screen was causing my Task Bar woes.

Thanks for the help.

Ps. Liking the Object Bar. Cant get the trial of Dektop X to work - it plants it's two default "objects" on my screen but I cant do anything to them. Right click them properties doesnt open anything up. Nothing happens. Also, when I click on the Desktop X icon in my sys-tray, and then Prefs, nothing happens. I wont be ignored! thx again

GageFX, Well, I have the same issue a little bit.. I've went into the taskbar properties and made it autohide from there. Plus I edited my reg to get rid of it. But I think I might of found another trick to deal with this. Make it autohide and set your desktop the way you want it, than do a (logoff) than log back on in your profile.. If your using XP or 2K, you'll have multi profiles. 98/95/Me would just take you to the logon screen. Mac, I have no clue.
Try that and let me know.

hehe. I thought you were going Bob Dole on me. (If you dont know/remember, he referred to himself in the third person.)

I'm on XP.

I dont kow about the logging on/off. I have the logon screen disabled as I hate logging on and I dont know how that would affect my setup.

I have set the bar to autohide, so when it does come back I dont see it until I mouse over the Dock and then the bar pops up. Kinda annoying. editing the reg might work. I was hoping there would be an easier solution. (As I am just experimenting with these progs right now, I dont want to mess with the reg.

Thank you for answering.

Part of the problem is that Object Dock is experimental software which is in beta and is not supported. Does it happen when the nag screen for ObjectBar pops up? Did you manually autohide your start bar? Does it happen if you are not running ObjectBar?

Weaksid, it is the "/" in from of me that does that. So, you really need to state it 98/winME, either that or it will look like: "98/me instead".

Well, if you hit logoff under start it will take you to the login screen but won't effect your next reboot. I do it all the time for windows to save my settings just incase my computer freezes.

Plus, yea when I was using object bar I would have 3 freakin bars at the bottom of my screen.. So I disabled that program.

3 bars at bottom?

Maybe I'll try the logoff. As long as the logon screen doesnt come back.

As for autohide - when I first installed ODock I had a double tall taskbar. When ODock loaded, the 2x taskbar disappeared, but I had a two tall space at the bottom that app windows didnt use. I never had a problem with the TB coming back with this setting. Then, to optimize my desktop space, I dragged the TB down so it wasnt visible - well, the top line was but no bar. Now, whenever the TB annoyingly returns, it is autohide. It makes no sense from an ignorant users' POV, but I'm sure it might make sense to a programmer. Probably a simple, logical thing that I just dont know about.

And no, it doesnt happen when the nag comes up like I thought it might. The nag popped up today while I was sitting here and nothing. I also thought maybe when I hit the Windows button to access the start menu, but nope to that too. I guess I'm d@mned to keep closing the Dock and reloading it.

Thanks guys for the help. Any thoughts on my Desktop X probs?

Hey, I have sortof the same issue with the hide and don't hide thing for the taskbar in ObjectDock. It's a new program and they don't support it yet. So basically, you could concider it a Alpha program almost

I work around it. But for those with little paitents, I'm not sure what to tell ya.

I'm just giving you what I've came across and figure out so far. If I figure out something, I'll post it or send you a mail. Good luck.

Same issue here. Taskbar opens sometimes when ObjectDock is active. Seems a primary function of the software that just doesn't work right.
