Fences Windows 10 Compatibility

Basically what the title says. Fences is an integral part of my desktop with all the nice features it provides so before I opt-in to to try the new sleek looking Windows 10 version I'd like to know if it actually works, at all.

Thanks!

There most likely will not be an answer to your question until after Windows 10 releases.

Lightstar is absolutely correct. Stardock (as well as all the software firms I know of) don't go to work on compatibility issues until the RTM is out.

Any other way is a total waste of work and hours.

I imagine Fences will work on 10, as it does on 8.  I, too hope it does as all my machines use Fences...and this one will eventually have 10 on it...;)

As others have said, Windows 10 is just a preview at this time.  Fences will most likely work in the current build, but it's not supported and things might not work as they should.

I've been using Fences on Win10 Tech Preview and it works great, no issues so far that I've seen.

Works great in windows 10 pro insider preview build 10134 in compability mode (Windows 8)

Works fine on Build 10074. Start10 however IS having issues

  • Waiting to have some official word from Stardock as to whether Fences is Win10 compatible -- if/when there's an announcement, could someone please post a link or copy it into this post?

Fences 2.0 V 2.13 is the current version and have no issues under windows 10. check your version numbers.

One issue under 2.13 and Windows 10 is the inability to drag a desktop over. At least for me... If I am missing something, let me know.

it works in 10, however exiting from certain applications / games back to the desktop the fences get rearranged to a lower resolution.

As the others said perhaps we should wait until next release of 10

or update (large) at least

Ok, I'm on release version of Windows 10.

Here are the problems I an seeing in Fences 2.13

:( Right Click on Desktop or Double Click on Fences Icon. Neither will allow access to settings.

|-) Drop Down menu on a Fence allows access to Manage Sorting Rules.

:( Drag out to create Fence works to a point. When I click either 'Create Fence' or 'Create Folder Portal' the marked area disappears and no fence is created.

:( Double Click to Hide Fences doesn't work.

All in All, a few things to fix.  I can live with the 3 default fences. But look forward to an update that fixes the issues.

Same problem of not being able to drag in Win 10.....even a URL from a browser to the desktop...with Fences v. 2.10 even when I disabled it. You have to uninstall it and then you can drag icons in Win 10. Thanks for the info above.  I installed v.2.13 and everything works!  I love this program.

I'm on the release version of Windows 10, with a dual monitor and V2.13 of Fences. I've found that the Fences do not stay in place after reboot. They all migrate to the default desktop, rather than stay on the screen I originally dropped them on. Even a restore of a previously saved configuration does not return them to the original desktop.

I'll investigate further, but if anyone has experienced a similar problem and resolved it, I'd be most grateful for an update of how you did it.

Many thanks
