Registered Fences keep asking for product key every several days

Fences regularly asks for product key

I am a proud owner of Fences.

But on Windows 8 every several days I get pop-up message from Fences that I have to enter product key,

purchase product key or to start 30 day trail.

So every time I have to log-in to Stardock to copy/paste product key and succesfully activate Fences.

Fences is wonderful, but how do I solve this registration problem?

In the following locations:

C:\ProgramData\Stardock\Registrations

Delete fencesSig2240.bin (if it's there)

C:\ProgramData\Stardock\Fences

Delete the cache.dat and license.sig

After, try activating again and let us know if you are again prompted.

In registration folder there was file called fences2Sig2240.bin --> Removed

In Fences2 folder (not Fences) there was only the file cache.dat --> Removed.

So license.sig was absent.

After activating Fences2, Registration Folder remained empty, but two files (cache and license) appeared in Fences2 folder.

 

Perhaps this was caused by updating Fences to Fences2?

Now Fences works like charm. :D

I will let you know within several days whether the problem is really solved! O:)

I'm having ALL my stardock programs ask for a product key. Modern mix, Start 8 and decor 8. Its only just started!!

I forgot to say that this is continually happening, even after entering the keys which it accepts.

Did you do as instructed in reply #1?  If so, are you still being prompted after you activate thereafter?

We pushed a fix late Friday.  There is nothing for any of you to do or install; all the work was internal here.  We trust that the issue has been resolved; let us know if you see any different.

On windows 8, WB 8 is asking to be activated, and when I put in the key, it says the key is in use on another machine.

I had to re-activate several SD products today. WB is the only one that failed.

 

Please fix this, it's getting old.

I deleted files as suggested and this appears to have worked. I haven't been asked for a product key for a few days now. Thanks for your advice

I hope so....Windows7 just asked for a WB activation.   :annoyed:      I haven't tried reply 1 because of reply 7.

I spoke too soon.

 

Start 8 and Modern mix asked for a product key again. I'm getting sick of this.

jbarr3 - Your activations were reset on the 4th and 3rd which required you to activate again, which you did on the 8th. This was before we pushed an internal fix on the 5th. Sorry for the confusion, you should be all set now. It just happened that the fix was between you getting reset and activating again.

Hi all,

The problem occurred again. 8C

I had no problem with Fences2 asking for the key for more than 10 days! Yes!

Suddenly it happened again.

I looked at the two folders:

Registration Folder --> empty

Fences2 folder --> cache.dat

 

So, the license file disappeared.

I reactivated Fences2 and license file has appeared.

Hopefully this is a valuable information for Stardock...

Dang it guys, this shit is getting old.   >:(

 

I just had Decor8, WinFX, and Deskscapes8 ask for activation, YET AGAIN,  then tell me they're registered to another PC.

 

Multiplicity 3 isn't working correctly, WinFX has been broken on multiple monitors forever, DeskScapes8 v8.2 causes multiple instances of explorer.exe to lock down my rig.

 

I have multiple tickets going as we speak. I pay good money, and have done so for nearly ten years now.

 

Can we please fix this crap? Seriously.

 

I am within inches of clearing all Stardock software off my PCs and letting my subscriptions lapse.

 

It's a shame too, since I'm paid up thru Dec. of 2016.

 

Don't even get me going on site issues.

 

What has happened to Stardock?

Old_Swoop: I checked your activations and you were reset the 4th(The day before we pushed an internal fix) and you should be all set now. If it happens again, please write in to support@stardock.com

I'd like to thank support for solving my Multiplicity issue.   5* 5* 5* 5* 5*

 

Now, if we could find a fix for WinFX, DS8, and the site issue, I'd be ecstatic.

 

The activations thing needs a few days to see if it's fixed.

Today, on 7, WinFX, WB, and Fences asked for activations.

 

On 8, Start8 and Fences asked for activations.
