V1.45 not acting like previous versions

Windows 8.1, 64-bit, Start8 V1.45.

I used to be able to click on a pinned icon and move it up or down, to set the order I wished.  Now that I've upgraded to 1.45 I no longer can find a way to do that.  The icons are listed alphabetically.

Is there a way to change this, or should I just go back to an older version.

Thanks,

Chuck

That is not normal.  You should be able to drag and order your list as you did before.  I have checked here and reordering is working as expected.

I recommend uninstalling, rebooting and reinstalling as it sounds like something has gone wrong somewhere.

Good suggestion but no cigar.

I've uninstalled and tried reinstalled V1.45.

I've uninstalled and tried reinstalling a couple of previous versions.

Nothing so far has worked, and now I'm stuck with "Maximum Activations Exceeded".

Still waiting for my request to support@stardock.com to be answered so I can try yet again.

Any other ideas?

Thanks

Chuck

Well, Support got the 'Maximum Activations Exceeded' problem fixed.  I never knew about the 'Deactivation' procedure.  I guess I do, now.

My problem remains - I cannot click and/or right-click a pinned icon and move it up or down the "list" of other icons.  I have uninstalled, rebooted and reinstalled so many times I'm convinced that's not the answer.  The previous version worked fine.  However, if I now try to install that previous version, the problem remains.

I have a second, similar machine that works just fine.  So it seems I can eliminate problems with Windows updates and things like that.

Where is the structure of the pinned items kept?  Is it in the registry, somewhere?  I searched and thought I could just change the order there but couldn't find anything.  Somewhere in the machine has got to be a portion of a file that records the order of the pinned items.  That's what must be corrupted.  That "file" remains after an uninstall because when I reinstall, all my pinned items are still there.  I don't have to re-pin anything.  It seems like an uninstall should remove "everything" - yes - no?

Thanks

Chuck

End of dmanosaka's quote

What problem are you having which needed an uninstall?

Also what error do you get on uninstall?

Thanks for the help.

All the windows links are gone. The program links seem mostly ok but links to control panel, this pc, etc., are broken. "this file dgroes not have a program associated with it for performing this action " is the windows message.

Also since the update the taskbar icon is gone.

I installed this to my SD card earlier and wonder if that might be a problem.

On no uninstall option from control panel. Says the file or directory is corrupt and unreadable. But again it links to the C: drive file.

Its a mess.  Any ideas are welcome.  Cheers.

Ok, I got it fixed maybe. I went to regedit and manually removed all references to Stardock and Start8. I restarted, downloaded the 1.45 version and installed on the c: drive.  All links working and seems to be ok.  I'll do the next upgrade manually.  Thanks for your help
