I can't change the start icon

I just bought a new laptop and I loaded start 8, and now I can't change the icon. Why is this? Is it an activation problem? Thanks

If you haven't activated your Start8 yet, I would suggest doing so. Can you change the icon for your start button to custom, default or any selection?

I am encountering the same problem. I am a registered Object Desktop user, Start8 is activated, yet when I open the configuration menu, ALL options to change the button are grayed out.

Are you using a WindowBlinds theme?  If so the start button options are disabled unless you have told WindowBlinds to always use the OS start button rather than the theme one.  This is a setting in the WindowBlinds settings.

You got it in one. I'm moving over to a new computer and didn't know (or remember) you have to EXPLICITLY tell Windowblinds not to override the OS start button. Theme override of the button is enabled by default. The kind of weird part was how Start8's configuration window just had everything grayed out without any particular help or info saying why.

Thanks Neil.

I don't know if this is included in the start 8 instructions, but it would have saved me countless time trying to figure this out. I kept uninstalling & reinstalling Start8 and still no access to change start buttons.

I'm so glad to find this answer in the forum.

Thanks, Marc
