Decor8 is useless in Windows 8.1

The only thing I can do is change the background, the colors don't work anymore, my clock stopped showing up, you can't adjust rows, nothing works

What version of Decor8 do you have installed?

It sounds like something has gone wrong as on 8.1 you can change the colours (but not the tile colour), you can have a clock and you can change backgrounds.  However you cannot change the row count (blame Microsoft for that one)

I agree ... fairly useless in its current state. I use version 1.07 on Windows 8.1. I can set charms color, lock-screen photo, etc., but eventually, Windows will override those settings and revert to back to what it wants. This is, btw, when logged in to a Microsoft Account. Not sure that it affects a non- Microsoft login.

Are you perhaps using the same account on multiple computers?

Microsoft accounts sync their settings by default and so a change on one will impact the others too.

Just updated to the new Windows 8.1 UpDate.  I agree it does not seem to be working well.

What problems are you having?

For one thing change the color scheme from one custom scheme to another and it doesn't change.  Second No clock anymore

It sounds like you have not picked a background from within Decor8.

The clock and colour features require that you pick a background in Decor8.

Neil,

I was using the desktop background which happens to be a solid color.  You're right when I pick a background in Decor8 I get clock.

I have a background Picture selected but still the Clock doesn't show.

Just sometimes it shows up. Will this ever be fixed?

Have same issue!

If you pick a background that has dark colors, do you see the clock then?

I have a black background I made and the clock shows only sometimes.  Interestingly enough, I can turn off the option "Add a clock to the start screen" in Decor8, see that there is no clock, turn it back on and the clock is there.  It will be for a short time and then gone again.

You no longer need Decor8 or most of the windows interface tweaks these programmes offer. Windows 8.1 did a pretty good job of fixing everything.

No, I am using my Microsoft Account on just this PC.

Is this compatibility issue going to be addressed? Charm color reverts to default [white] every time I reboot

Yes 8.1 fixed it so it is no longer functional.  I believe 8.1 to be worse than 8.0 in many aspects.

I agree. Useless. I hate that my charms bar stays an ugly black no matter what. I wish I could get a refund.

I think it is semi-illegal to knowingly sell a product that does not function as represented.

The product does function as represented.

What is the product not doing that we say it does?

the clock doesn't work on the startscreen. Just sometimes it does work but mostly not. But you ignore fix that.

And yes of course i use background picture. (Using latest 1.08 with Windows 8.1 Pro x64)

Yes and the charm bar stays an ugly black now. Decor 8 used to let us change it.

This is because you changed your operating system, rather than we removed a feature from you.

Unfortunately sometimes a feature requires OS support and new versions of the OS (and 8.1 is a different OS to 8) remove support for those.  If you have 8.0 (which still gets its own OS updates), you can change your charms bar colour.
