Menu Button Continually Disappears

I am running Windows 8.1 64 bit on a desktop machine and I have a problem where the start button keeps disappearing. It's not replaced by the windows original, there is just no button at all, not even a space. I can still right click down the bottom left to achieve that menu.

The only solution appears to be uninstalling it and then re-installing it which chews up an activation.

Uninstalling should not require reactivation.

Your issue is not something I have heard of before, so I suggest contacting support@stardock.com so they can investigate further.

Out of interest what happens if you press the Windows key when it is in that state?  Does the Start8 menu show up?
