Heh, "going forward... I had two disks (probably still have, haven't opened that shelf for years). One had assorted bagpipe marches, another had some movie, don't remember which, thinking of Cross of Iron, maybe I had two movie disks with this problem. Both of them had problems playing on my previous rig. When I got new one - guess what, they were working flawlessly. Alas, didn't worked with games. Still hate them for that. Well, I don't, I shot them.

Thats amazing, i have always found with the computer or for TV, the newer the player, the less likely it is to play the disk!

I have to keep an ancient 10/15 year old CD player because all the new players are all too 'precious'.

Again I've come from the school that knows someday he wont have the internet, and his computer crashes. So he needs to reinstall windows. Good thing he has disks of civilization or galactic civilizations. Then he puts it in, so he can play the game. The game works fine without the patch.

This seems to be my world. The games at the store were the ones I just mentioned.

I like both methods. I like having the patches, but when that day comes my computer crashes and I don't have the internet I'm glad for phusical disks.

Fallout 1 being old, still works like charm. If you can handle those occasional "epileptic nightmares" colours or constant "fog of war" on the screen. Pretty funny style to play, probably even funnier than Splinter Cell 2 with broken lightning rendering. :D

He-he. :) I respect your way of keeping it up close and personal, but since I'm not allowed to keep my flamethrower after leaving military, I prefer to solve problems with my shotgun. Birdshot, buckshot, slugs - for those most stubborn... Cut them across.

Doesn't Steam actually allows back ups?
