[1.5] Crash

I´ve had several crashes these past hours, around 1 crash every 3 turns or so. I´m running these mods and the latest version of LH 1.5.I´m also using these mods "[eMod] Patchwork mod - AI boost" and " [eMOD] Black Market Bazaar - New items"

It does not seem to be something related to saved games though.

Here is the link to debug on pastebin http://pastebin.com/CrvDj3ba

I cant in my ProgramData folder find a zip file recently created, so unless its not supposed to be in C:\ProgramData I don´t have one. I´ve had several crashes and the most recent .zip file is 2 months old.

Could these recent crashes be caused by using the mods and that I´m not using the standard place for "My Documents etc."? Since I got a SSD I decided to put all temporary files, my documents and important files and folders on a more stable and l2TB HDD, after all usually they don´t need the speed of a SSD and my SSD is usually low on space and from what I´ve read they don´t like to be written on to much.

Any tip on how I can avoid these recent crashes? I don´t think I´ve had these many crashes since I installed the "[eMod] Patchwork mod - AI boost" and " [eMOD] Black Market Bazaar - New items"

PS: I´m playing through Steam.

Can you post teh save file as well? Actually better yet. Browse through the posts and there is one for the Stardock Support Tool.

If you want to rule out whether the mods are causing the crash, try running and saving games without the mods.

The saves really says nothing about this problem, I use the saves and play them after a crash and then there is no crash. But every 2-8 turns I have a crash where the game "hangs" and then has to be closed down.

If you look at some of the info I posted in pastebin it looks like it is missing some files, but since the game works just fine for several turns I don´t think that is the problem.

Though I belie that the one of the mods, maybe "[eMod] Patchwork mod - AI boost" could be a factor in this. I never used to have so much crashes before. And it also takes longer for the AI to act (waiting time). Could it be that the AI thinks more and longer (more calculations) and that somehow causes the crashes?

PS: I´m having to much fun with this mod so I don´t want (or can´t) stop playing with it :P

Actually saves can tell you a lot. It allows SD or the mod author to reproduce the issue. This was important in SD resolving the 1.4 crashes that were occuring.

Okay, here is the save. But remember that the crashes are not always crashing at the same time. Sometimes it takes 2 turns or 6 or 1 etc. etc.

Does anyone know where I could possible find the " ProgramData folder for a zip file which will be named something like legendaryheroes_0_75-2012-01-18T13-57-53-446.zip"

I can find my ProgramData folder on my main drive, but since I´m using steam and also have folders like "My Documents" on other drives might it be somewhere else?
By searching I find a file which could have been the right one (but wrong date, its 3 days old) in this folder "C:\ProgramData\Stardock\Elemental - Legendary Heroes"

Edit: I can find a folder named "AppHang_LegendaryHeroes._e8dd67ff15dac249cf3612d3df6c42b7378139f_109fa993" in this place "C:\Users\Alexander\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportArchive"
But I don´t think it´s what you guys need.

Thanks for your interest ppl :)

ProgramData/Stardock/Legendary Heroes

Also, sometimes the game hangs but doesn't crash. In this case it may not create the dump file. These are mainly my observations. Stardock Support may jump in and correct me. In that case listen to them. Although, if you are using mods you generally are on your own so don't expect offical support on your crash unless they see something.

Well I crashed the second turn in.

You are at turn 97 which isn't too far in. I would try a new game and play without mods to see if you have the same crashes. Also, do you have the patchwork mod in your steam directory or my documents. It is not recommended you modify the steam files. All mods should be in the the directory located in My Documents/My Games.

Thank you for your input Illauna! It´s appreciated.

Well I did put the patchwork mod in my steam directory ("To install the mod, first backup your English folder, then copy the downloaded files into it. If you don't have DLS's, delete appropriate DLS files. Optionally there is a mod in Mod folder, which allows you to play with limited resources.")

I want the whole patchwork, and I don´t know what the limited resources would change. I want it all :P

PS: Since I bought the first game of this series before elemental was released I think I still have access to all the games. I´ve since then activated it on steam.

I´m pretty sure I could install the non-steam version from Stardock. Think that would help?

I also noticed that I have an old uninstalled copy of LH (with some left over files & folders, think it was a beta?) and also an installed version of FE from stardock. Maybe I should just unistall everything and try from scratch. But before the patchwork mod using the steam version I seldom had any crashes at all.

There are also some left over files & folders from older versions of stardock games (FE, LH, Elemental)

The new version of Patchwork mod should not have this file. I will also try your save this evening and write a report.

How often did you encounter crashes earlier? Can you say that you had "Almost-Never" encountered crashes before? Before uploading Patchwork mod I tested it for 50 turns and had no crashes. Just 50 times pressed "End Turn" button. The only mod I use is "River Bridge" by Parrottmath.

Also, on what size map are you playing? Is it Huge? Patchwork mod provides some serious work for processor, I think. You noticed that AI turns are longer. I tested 50 turns on medium map. Now I'm playing it on 32 turn (last evening) and there were no crashes and hangs yet.

I´m playing with 9 or 10 opponents on a huge map. Think the crashes started more frequently the longer the game went on. Hardly any crashes in the beginning but they started to become more frequent after more turns. Think I´m at 90+ turns now and the crashes keeps coming.

Will try to look into this and give more info if I have time, home sick right now and had to spend the day in bed instead of at work or in front of the computer playing with your mod...

Do you have 64-bit Windows and a fair amount of RAM?
End of StevenAus's quote

Yeah, I´ve got 64-bit version of Windows 7 home Premium with 16 GB RAM and a decent graphic card (HD 5800 series)

So the amount of memory should not be the big problem here. Wish I knew what is was though...

Edit: To clarify as Illuana pointed out (I´m getting confused with the terminology since English is not my first language). I would say that the game hangs more than crashes, it just freezes up and a windows pop up msg tells me that the program has stooped working and asks me to wait or close it. The only solution is closing it down since waiting does nothing, so yeah saying that the game crashes might be wrong.

It freezes and hangs :)

I tested huge map with 9 opponents and encountered that the game hanged first time at 48 turn and didn't respond, so I have to close the program and start the game again. I've deleted many data from new units and think that this may help (the updated file is uploaded), but I'm going to optimize my mod further for about a week or less. As for now I recommend to play on small and medium maps.

Sounds nice webusver, I really like your mod and I´m going to try to combine it with Primal_Savage XtraSavageDifficulty.xml.

LOL @ Illauna!
