Start8 v1.31 update is available now!

Today we released a Start8 v1.31 update which includes an assortment of performance enhancements and fixes. You can view the Changelog here.

Start8 is available to try as a free 30-day trial

Current Start8 owners should open their Object Desktop Manager application or visit their Stardock account to download the v1.31 update.

I just downloaded and installed the update. I now have NO start button and my start menu is inaccessible

I have the same problem too.

After installing Star8 v1.31 and windows restarts the icon does not appear, it reverts to the Windows 8.1 icon.

Also I tried to open Star8 through the install folder it gave me the message that Star8 is not compatible with the version of Windows.

It may be due to the new features on Star8 that it won't allow it to install properly in Windows 8.1 (just spit bowling here)

Can the devs look into it.

Edit: I had to revert to Star8 v1.3.0 to get it to work properly.

Feature request:

With Start8 and Windows 8 you had the option to stay inside Modern UI if closing a Modern UI App. I would prefer to have this option in Windows 8.1 with Start8.  Since Windows 8.1 you will go to desktop after closing an app and it is tied to the Windows option to go directly to desktop after boot. Would it be possible to have the same options as before under Windows 8?

 

Language files:

Please update language files for new strings (e.g. "Windows key shows Start8 unless in tablet mode")
