After Win8.1 Update system boots to Modern UI instead of Desktop

With Win8 my system booted straight to the desktop each time - YAY!  But I just installed the Win8.1 update (no problems installing at all!)  and now my system boots to the horrid Modern UI - thsu forcing me to click on the Desktop icon to get to my beloved desktop.

Yes, I do have  the latest 1.30 version of Start8 and Yes I do have the option checked for "Automatically go to the desktop when I log in."

How do I get my system to boot straight to the desktop?

On the very first login for any user account it will go to the ModernUI, but all future logins should go to the desktop.

Start8 sets the OS setting for boot to desktop on 8.1 so once set it should not have to do anything.

If you right click on the taskbar and click properties and then the second tab, is it set to go to desktop on sign in?

AHA!  Most excellent reply _ thanks.

In fact, the option to boot directly to the desktop was NOT checked.  So I checked it and now the system boots properly.

I wonder why/how that option got unchecked.  Another oddity about the Win8.1 upgrade was that it lost my desktop wallpaper image - the system came up with just a solid black background.  So I re-copied my desired wallpaper file and all is well now.
